Seems the evaluation on him was correct. Lazy. No work ethic. Unmotivated. Into "other" things. Doesn't look like football is real "high" on this guy's priority list. But I'm sure you'd rather have him than Asante.

Interesting. A good friend of mine coaches at Coffeyville, and that wasn't his evaluation at all. In fact, he said K-State got a steal.

You don't know anything. Asante's position at Nebraska is basically where he's an extra LB because of his alignment. Trust me, Asante is making plays all over the field and he will be twice the player that Chandler is. Hell he already is. BTW, Roy Williams was a S that looked like a LB. And yes, this kid looks and plays like Roy Williams.

Safety Larry Asante was regarded as perhaps the top impact player in Nebraska's recruiting class last winter. He might be starting to live up to the billing.
Asante is playing with the No. 1 unit at strong safety. Defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove said the sophomore from Alexandria, Va., enjoyed his best day of practice Friday as Nebraska wore full pads for the first time.
According to Asante, Saturday was even better.
"I think I've been getting better every day," Asante said. "I felt real good out there in the scrimmage. I was flying around on my feet."
At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, Asante earned honorable-mention juco All-America honors last fall at Coffeyville (Kan.) CC.
"Larry is so diligent," safeties coach Bill Busch said. "He loves the game, and he's got passion for everything. If he's tired, he pushes through. He is a self starter. He doesn't need a coach to wind him. He's going when he gets out here. He's going when he gets up."

That is with a d-line with 4 senior starters 2 of which were first day draft picks. And don't say we have Suh this year and he's better then what we had because he was playing equal snaps to the starters last year. He's a stud but having Carriker, Moore, Cryer, Dagunduro and Suh is better then having just Suh and a bunch of ordinary guys.

Thanks for asking...he's working out fine. We expect him to be a big contributor as soon as Watts teaches him how to play at K-State... and, yes, you're right, we would rather have him than Asante.
