Riddle me this batman...what program(s) around the NCAA do you think mose resemble KSU. I like to think of our program as scrappy with a chip on its shoulder.
Just curious of what names would pop up if you thought of a program like ours. And yes, I figure this thread will be littered with Husker smack talk. Aren't they all? :D

Somewhere between Marshall and VaTech. Teams without a solid history that are competitive on a high level in recent years.
-
Up to three years ago I'd say we were very comparable with VT. They've just kept winning though, we've been down.
-
Cal.
Traditional middle-of-the-conference performance with the ability to attract talent, but not build the depth needed for consistent top tier performance. On average, a winning football program capable of knocking off a better team, but also dropping a game that shouldn't be lost. Mentioned as either a contender or a spoiler nearly every year. Consistent bowl appearances with limited opportunity for BCS games, typically playing a lower-level bowl against a team from a non-football-powerhouse conference.

We're f*cking incomparable. One of a f*cking kind.

USC.

USC.
Wait LOL at that we own them.

That was what I was thinking. Somewhat like Cal, but without the strong recruiting base. Maybe more of an Oregon State, Marshall, Virginia, or NC State.
Sure would be fun to be like Fresno State or Souther Miss. Anyone, anytime, anywhere. But I guess being in the Big 12 would be tough to schedule like that.

Notre Dame, Miami, Penn St, KSU in that order of greatness.

1993-2003 = Wisconsin.

Go Cocks!

Iowa under Frye - he won one out-right conference title (2 co-champion titles, but co-champs are for ku basketball), basically had a consistent run with good stretches, then when his good assistant coaches left he basically tanked and crashed the program into the ground and Iowa hired some young coach to take charge of rebuilding it back again.

Well, Ferentz has brought alot of of really good recruiting classes into Iowa City. (I hope one day we'll be able to say the same about Ronny.) Seems like every year they're preseason top ten or fifteen, until ISU whips them and starts another season long downward spiral. Guess that having a bunch of stars doesn't mean much if you can't coach for crap.

Mandel considers your program third-tier, which seems fair:
Knights (3rd Tier)
Arizona State, Arkansas, Boston College, Cal, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri, N.C. State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Stanford, Syracuse*, South Carolina, Texas Tech, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington State.

That seems about right.
Don't think CU belongs in his second tier...that's about all I don't agree with on his list.

The National Championship must still carry some weight, because I thought they were a little high as well.
