Independence vs. Kentucky

So far the Independence Bowl has been the one that most people have us in.

I was thinking a game vs. WVU would be interesting just because of the Huggins tie-in...let's see, what bowl would that put us in....

Oh, a little help....what bowl was ku (with the weakest schedule in D-1) picked to be in?

If we'd play WVU it probably would be in the Texas Bowl  :yuck: or the NCCG.

&@#% that.  I don't want to have anything to do with WVU this year.  They look like a possible National Title Contender.  I think we'll be better than last year, but WVU looks to be better than Rutgers was last year, and we all saw how that went...but I'd love to whip them on the hardcourt this year.

There is no way we are good enough to play the Mountaineers, who should finish 1st in the Big East, 2nd at worst......Rutgers can give up their dreams......Here's hoping we go anywhere but Shreveport.....Hey, Lets pack up the bags and go to Shreveport, LA for the holidays!!! That ain't happenin.....I'm hoping for an Alamo birth so we can beat the hell out of some overrated Big Ten team....

Independence vs. Kentucky

Please not another Texas Bowl. I could handle the Independence vs. either Kentucky or South Carolina.

Wow, now I really believe their bowls picks even more.  I mean, imagine how much research they must have done.

no that actually makes sense, because USC, the pac 10 champ, is slated for the BCS championship bowl.  So the rose bowl would take an at large team to replace USC.

Quote
We're betting that one Pac-10 team ends up playing for the national championship and no other schools from that conference warrant BCS invitations. That will leave the Rose Bowl searching for an at-large team to fill the Pac-10's spot. If you can't have the ideal Big Ten-Pac-10 matchup, inviting the defending national champions to California represents the next-best option.

I don't think we should be too picky. Going to any bowl is much better than just being "bowl eligible"

I have had some lengthy conversations with a member of the Alamo Bowl Selection Committee.  I was told that KSU is at very, very little risk of being left out if KSU gets 6 wins.  Bowl Committee's primary goal is to sell tickets, and KSU brings the fans.  They know this.  They only way KSU gets left out of a TX or LA Bowl is if they are deciding between KSU and aTm or UT...which isn't a very likely scenario.

Bank on it, 6 wins and we are in a Bowl.

Insight vs. Purdue
Texas vs. Houston

Both of these would be bad. I guess the best way to prevent this from happening is to keep winning.

I would be OK playing in the insight bowl.  But, Purdue is much better than that and will be in a better bowl.  They are probably the second best team in the Big 10.

I'd like to go to the Sun Bowl, if we go to anything less than the Alamo.
Alamo or higher should be the goal though.
Beat Texas and then keep rolling.

WVU has a HORRIBLE defense... her in Huntington, you have basically 40% for Marshall and 40% for WVU (20% for Louisville, Ohio State, KY etc) the word around here is that when WVU plays Louisville (also a horrible defense) the last team to score a TD will win. THAT game will be a barn burner! I think that we would have an OK chance on beating WVU with our defense. But who knows, I do know that I would be nervous as hell.

I do not disagree that we would have a chance (maybe 25%) of taking WVU down, but, again, we will not be playing them because their bowl will likely be on Jan 1 and ours will not.

I don't put that much faith in our D just yet.  The best O we've faced was SJSU's.  WV would put 40 on us.  Fire away.
