Title: Houston Texans taking Williams, NOT Bush
Post by: PowercatPosse on April 28, 2006, 09:01:53 PM
Just read that Houston has already inked a deal with DE Mario Williams tonight and they will make him the #1 pick in tommorrow's draft.  This sure surprised the H*LL out of me.

The Saints have Deuce at RB, but can they afford to pass up Mr Bush???

Wow, something tells me that is not going to be a popular pick with Houston's fans.  It may make the most sense, (not the way I see it, but then again maybe thats why I am not an NFL exec) but it sure sounds like the Texan's fanbase is clamoring for Young.  I have a feeling the fans would have been ok with Bush as their pick, but drafting a DE is not exactly gonna make them forget their hometown boy.

The local sports talk radio shows down here have been non-stop Bush vs. Young since about 30 seconds after the Rose bowl.

The last week or so the Young supports have come to grips with the fact that he wasn't coming to the Texans.  There will be some outrage that the Texans didn't take Bush but not much.  There is still a waiting list for season tickets here so as long as the Texans start winning it won't matter to the fans who they picked.

Thank God the Astros are doing well so far so there is at least something else to talk about.  The Young drivel from the t-sips was getting really old.

I feel sorta silly because: when I flipped on ESPN this morning, they were talking about, basically, what I posted on last night. I think Williams will be a quality player in the league, but I also saw the last few defensive players drafted first overall and the best of them (Russel Maryland) was certainly not worth losing out on a Bush-caliber talent.
