That winning percentage does not impress me. :blank:

70% winning percentage pre-04/05... :crybaby:

If Snyder would have had a monkey for DC instead of Phil Bennett it would be over 70%.

77 % big 12 winning percentage heading into 2004.

Did you try 4 decimal places?

Another example of Bill's loyalty to assistants resulting in Bill &@#%king himslef. Phil Bennett should have been asked to take a leave of absence after his wife died....no way he was able to give his job all he had during that time.

My friends, BOBBY ELLIOTT was the downfall of our defense! Oprah Windfrey could have been DC 2003 and we STILL would have dominated! When Bret Beilema left - we were screwed!

Monkey > Phil Bennett > Bill Elliot

Monkey > Phil Bennett > Bill Elliot
Quien es "Bill Elliot"?

That's what those who hate him call Bob Elliot.

1 out of a 100 ain't bad for you guys...

Why the hating on Phil Bennett? The D was stout all three years he was here (1999, 2000, 2001). That is why he was hired away as a head coach. The problem in 2001 was not the defense. It was special teams and offense that had problems.

I'd rather we win the conference in football, than make a final four.

Agree, winning the conference in football would bring much more long term success, or atleast the chance. Compared to making it to the final four, for instance this year, than Walker & Beasley leave.....where are we going than?????
Much easier to drop off from a final four team the next year than conference champions in football. (2003 to 2004, O-LINE!!!!)
You've got to agree with that statement.

Winning the conference in football is not that hard of a task comparatively. The North is bad enough (at least for now) that a mediocre team can make it to the B12CCG and have a punchers chance. Also, there are only 12 other teams involved every year. I am curious to see how I feel about this should we make a FF run this year. 2003 is still fresh enough in my mind to make a fair comparison. Hard to see anything being better than '03 but I have not experienced a FF run, obviously.

A FF would be more exciting IMO, but I agree a conference championship would bring more long term success. But then again........2003

With a Conference that has OU and Texas, it's hard as sh1t.
I love how people think "anything can happen" in the conference title game as if the 03, 01 and 98 conference title games were some huge upsets. They really weren't each time the North had a REALLY good team, and people forget A&M was really good too. 1996 was a crazy upset.
Make no mistake about it, as long as the North champ sucks, there is no chance one of use will break through and win the CCG.
Outside of irratating ku fans, making the final 4 isn't as big of a deal to me.

Very true, could you imagine how fun that ride would be on the way to the FF????
But overall, for the program.....you've got to go with the CC.

This season, I would rather see a Final Four. Any other season, bring on the football championship.
I want to watch the Beasley & Walker show as long as possible.

I kind of agree. Getting one final four would be nice just to have something to point at for our basketball program.

I'm not saying it is easy by any means fwiw

I really can't decide what I would pick. Winning the conference means you are in the top ten for college football (ten teams in BCS games). Final Four obviously means top four. I'd probably say Final Four this year just because of how fun the ride would be but every other time I would say the Big XII title.

I can't even imagine the excitement of winning the tournament games to get there. That would be a ride.

I started a thread back in March right before we played ku in the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament and posed the following question:
Would you rather beat ku in this tournament and lose in the first round of the NCAA's, OR would you rather lose to ku (for the third time) and then make a Sweet 16 run?
My pick was for the win over ku, and every single respondent thought I was crazy. They would much rather have had the Sweet 16 run. However, a win over ku would have meant a shot at winning the conference tournament in basketball, which I know is not as big of a deal as football, but still I feel it would have been huge for K-State. At the time we all assumed KSU would make the NCAA's even with a loss to ku.
In this thread, the majority opinion seems to be saying the opposite. Most here seem to think the football CCG is more important than a Final Four run. It is not an identical comparison, but I am curious to see if most here think I am crazy for wanting the ku win and shot at the B12 basketball tournament championship more than the Sweet 16.

Still think you're crazy. It would be different if it wasn't just a "shot at the tournament" and instead you said "win the tournament." Do you remember how much attention WSU got for making the Sweet 16?

In 2003, KSU was a 5 to 1 underdog to OU. I know because I was really into sports betting online at the time, and I bet $50 on KSU, thus winning $250. If only I had bet more. :curse:
But I get your point in that it should not have been that big of an upset considering KSU was a top 5 team in the preseason, and toward the end of the year in the games leading up to that was actually playing like a top 5 team.

I remember WSU getting a lot of attention, and I was happy for them since I grew up near Wichita. But they are from a mid-major conference, and the last time they made it that far was the early 80's. So the media gave them a lot of love since they were more of a true Cinderella team. I don't think K-State would have gotten quite that much attention, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, I must just hate ku more than everyone else. :D
-
I remember laughing at every person wearing a WSU shirt that looked like it just came off the racks and could have still had the tags on them. EVERYONE in wichita was a Life long WSU fan when they were in the Sweet 16; yet now, I can walk through the mall or oldtown or whatever and count the WSU apparral on my left hand. You know you have too many bandwagon fans when your team starts doing well and merchandising goes up like 600%

I can't get the image of Beasley cutting down the nets out of my head.
It's beautiful.
