Title: LOL! OMG!
Post by: fatty fat fat on July 24, 2007, 04:38:57 PM
SAN ANTONIO — Gene Chizik hasn’t forgotten Texas’ 45-42 loss to Kansas State and the Longhorns’ defensive collapse.

And he doesn’t plan to.

“Absolutely,” the former Texas defensive coordinator said when asked if the loss that knocked the Longhorns from BCS contention still bothers him. “That was a gut-wrencher. Games like that will haunt you the rest of your life. That one will haunt me when I get done 10 years from now.”

LOL

Something that would be interesting to look up:

Did we score more points against Texas than any other team in the Chizik era?

When was the last time a Chizik coached team gave up that many?  (Probably have to go pre-Auburn?)

As far as I can tell, the only other time he gave up more than 31 at Texas was against USC in the BCS title game.

He gave up 38 to Arkansas and 34 to Syracuse in 2002 at Auburn.

The last time a Gene Chizik lead defense gave up more points than vs. KSU was 2001 when he was the DC at UCF and VT put 46 on them.

I'm still trying to figure this out...

The Jayhawks have pulled off some impressive upsets during Mark Mangino's five-year tenure. They also have been bowl eligible three times in the last four years. However, the team's overall record under Mangino is 25-35, which is only a slight improvement over the previous five seasons (22-34).
