I don't care for his stand-up comedy, but I think it's fun having him in our fan base.

And both people that saw "Health Inspector" saw him sporting a NU hat

Some of his stuff is funny. I watched the stand up show with him, Ron White, Jeff Foxworthy, etc, and I laughed a few times at his stuff, but he doesn't come close to the other guys he was touring with. I don't like it when he makes fun of mentally retarded and/or deaf kids.

I saw him up in the booth during a nationally televised NU game talking with the announcers on air.  I'm sure he's a great guy, but would any school really want that kind of "celeb" backing?

I don't think any of our fans take him that seriously. He is just a fun oddity to have around during the games. Kind of like the stupid corncob hats many of our fans insist on wearing.

But what does it say to the national audience?  Better you than us!

Like Toby Keith? Growing up on a farm, I have always like country music. However, you won't find one Toby Keith song on my ipod... He is a sooner and I hate him for that very reason. I hate it to see him on the sidelines of every big OU game.

Very classy.  Not surprised.

Why would he make fun of himself like that?

Who cares what team he roots for.  But if I were that AD, I'm pretty I wouldn't want to promote the fact that Larry "epitomy of back-country inbreeder" the Cable Guy is a supporter of the program.  I'm sure he's actually a fairly normal guy, but the majority of the American population probably thinks he screws his sister.  Not good PR.

Here is a clip of Larry the Cable guy when he started out. The whole hick personality is just an act....

Like I said, fairly normal.  But most of the population has never seen that clip.  What if some blue chip from Miami was watching a game and based his opinion on a team by seeing LTCG talking to the announcers?  Not gonna go to that school!

Meh...I don't think anyone really cares about it that much. He just found a niche acting like a hick. He acts completely different in his older stuff (before he started becoming known).

I don't think he has enough steam to stay semi-prominent much longer, so it's not that big of a deal. He'll be out of sight and mind in another year. I don't think he ever would have made it in the first place if he hadn't grabbed Foxworthy's coattails.

His material just isn't funny enough to have any staying power.

FWIW, if he were born about 10 miles further south, he could be attending ku or KSU games.

I think it's fine that he is a Nebraska fan, and I'm sure he is a very nice person, but who in their right mind would wear that shirt, let alone actually pay hard earned money for it.

I was in aggieville with friends on a weekday night in 03 when a huge bus comes rolling down Moro with a confederate flag plastered in the back window.  It parks out front of Rusty's and out walks Larry for a beer in Rusty's outback.  Douchebags at rusty's wouldn't let anyone near him.
