"pleased with how fans supported the program."
"the folks here are absolutely in love with the program Bill Snyder has built here."
-
810: Have heard about a master plan, what are you doing between now and first game?
Prince: "not much time, but we are on schedule. Finished second phase of putting in place our system. Third phase is individuals taking responsibility"
150 recruits there: "alot of kids are tied up on friday nights. Important to get them to see spring game as recruiting tool.
SKDHkjhsadfkjashd 810 stream losses "buffer" more than any EVAR!
-
about Huggins: "Success is helpful. Alot of very positive things happening now. K-State is the place to be."
810: K.C. was neglected under Snyder: "emphasis on being stron regionally."
"quarterbacks looked good. We emphasize game situations. All the QB's have something to bring."
Josh Freeman coming early a trend? "I don't know. Special kind of person who can leave high school early."
looking at the team, starting to evaluate film from last year: "committed to special teams and D. Every team in Big XII consistently successful on O."
-
Yeah ... you pretty much covered it.
He sounded good.
-
Prince had some awesome things to say not only about the football team, but with Huggins as well. Sounds like you have a bright future ahead of you.

it really annoys me that a husker fan comes on here and is nice and complimentary to our programs and school. please start being an a$$.

He's just biding his time so that he can trample on our souls when something goes wrong.

As a Husker fan, I really doubt that he even knows how to be an a$$... They are, after all, the self-professed "classiest fans in all of college football."
:loly:

please stop being an idiot. Some of you guys are just so classless.

If I was an a$$, I wouldn't be here right now. Look in the mirror to see what's wrong with yourself. I was giving you compliments and yet you want to trash me. Geez what idiots some of you are.

Don't get so emotional. It's just a message board.
I finally say something positive about ya, and you find a way to take it personally... Lame.

K.C. was neglected under Snyder: "emphasis on being stron regionally."
He's speaking of recruiting, no?
Okay, time to start a list. Who were the KC area athletes who K-State didn't recruit who have gone on have a big impact elsewhere in say, the last 7-8 years?
Brandon Lloyd is the only name I can come up with. He was recruited hard by K-State, but went to Illinois because of their broadcasting school.
-
Does Kevin Kane count?

Tony Temple?
-
I mean I'm nitpicking here and I don't follow recruiting religiously.... Anyone else have any thoughts?
-
cant you count freeman as a guy from the KC area that snyder didnt get? i mean granted hes from missouri but its pretty close.

I thought of him. Bill wanted him BAD...he hasn't really made an impact, though. I'm sure there's someone out there. It seems like Colorado St. ends up with a lot of KC area players.

More nitpicking, but he went to Wichita NW.
If you go to Wichita, you could probably add a few more players.
-
hasnt prince said he wants to recruit the entire state of kansas better? cause kstate has directly missed out on some guys that went to ku from the wichita area that were at least decent, aka john randle, nick reid, and jerome kemp. im not going to put banks floodman in the category b/c i personally know him and hes a total a$$.

I missed that the original radio discussion pertained only to KC.

Ouch.

I still not seeing all of these stars, or superstarts, sneaking out of KC to destinations other than Manhattan. So far we have otherwise listed a bunch of mediocre players who went to ku (a number of whom were from Wichita, not KC) and a few young kids at Mizzou that may (Coffman) or many not (Temple) busted out by now.
My point: Go back and look at the recruits coming out on KC in the past, say 8 years. Sproles is the most impressive, and he went to K-State. I'm not sure anyone else was great enough that they wouldn't have been replaced by another K-State recruit from another region.
Look at the Simone winners. I'll take any of the TNT over Sean Doyle. What did Brandon Shelby ever end up doing? Sproles & Mack signed with the Cats. Where is Jim Bouknight? Michael Keenan, anyone?
-
I remember being upset when Jamar Mozee switched from KSU to OU. Looking back, it's kinda funny.
Wayne Chambers (Grandview) though he was pretty well buried at Oklahoma.
Martin Rucker (St. Joe) - gotta be honest, I would love to have the Rucker/Coffman combo at KSU.
-
Ladell Betts (Blue Springs, MO) went to Iowa now plays for the Redskins. Even though, he was on a sh1ty team, he had good game vs. KSU at the BCA game.

Betts is legit, I forgot about him. Otherwise the names which keep coming haven't done anything yet. Wow, Coffman had a nice freshman year. Yea!
-
Are you implying that you wouldn't rather have Coffman in a purple jersey this fall?
-
Coffman had more of an impact his freshman year than Sproles in his freshman year.
-
My point is, for Kansas City's size, it seemingly doesn't produce a good number of quality football players. Or, at least it hasn't over the past 8-10 years.
The "more of an impact" comment is an interesting one. Two different teams, two different situations, two different talent levels on both teams. Still....
Freshman vs. Freshman
Coffman 44 receptions, 503 yards and 4 TDs
Sproles 27 carries, 217 yards and a TD
Sophomore vs. Sophomore
Coffman TBD
Sproles 237 carries, 1465 yard and 17 TDs.
Coffman would have to put up a 1179 yard, 14 TD season to match Sproles output in his their first two years. If he has that line this year, trust me, I'll be impressed. He might (might!) be better than any other TE on the Wildcats roster right now and could (could!) be K-State's starter. Thing is, Coffman would not have had a great year with K-State last year because of the way Snyder used his TEs. He could be sitting in this program in year 2 and we wouldn't really know what we have. Obviously, that's not the case with him...but it could be with other players K-State has. Something tells me Norwood will be right up there in production with him this year, so I'm not sure if K-State is losing out on any really greater thing by not having Coffman.
If he's the banner you want to use for Kansas City producing numerous high end college football players, I think my argument they haven't stands pretty well.

KSU recruited Betts hard. It came down to Iowa and KSU, and Iowa ended up being the choice.
Wembley at FSU didn't consider anyone in state. He had decided he was going out of state very early on, preferrable to Florida or the SEC region. KSU nor anyone around this region had a shot. He wanted a change in climate.
The concept of KSU ignoring KC under Snyder isn't so much about recruiting - instead I believe the comment is about promotion in the area. The lack of advertising and efforts to build a larger fanbase in the metro area.

It was also KSU getting lazy.
-
Wembley at FSU didn't consider anyone in state.
One could claim that we failed because we didn't give him sufficient reason to seriously consider KSU. I wouldn't argue with that claim. While it is certainly impossible to land every in state talent, I would never fault anyone for attempting to do so.

I llived in Wichita at the time he was recruited, he commited very early. I think he even graduated in December so he could go down for Spring ball at FSU. The slow recruiting style of Snyder at the time had little to no chance to pick him up!
