It just wasn't good. It was over-hyped. It wasn't historically accurate. The storyline had been done before and wasn't interesting. Bad acting. I just didn't like it.

I think it captured the book extremely well.  I think you're just being a movie snob.

I've never read the book so I wouldn't know about that aspect. I do know that the team never actually made it to the championship game and the championship game wasn't played in the Astro Dome. I just didn't think it was good for reasons stated above. I don't see how that's being a movie snob. I'm not saying I would know better than you or anyone else. Ask FBWille, he's a movie snob.

Hatter beat me to the Slap Shot punch.

Though the whole movie is GREAT and this scene is classic...the perfection comes at about 1:40 into the clip.  Probably one of my top 5 movie moments of all time ends the clip.

The movie was intended to be that way.  To give the feeling of living in a nowhere town.  I.e. slow and boring.  And the only way out is football, the only chance at a glimmer of greatness...is football.  Read the book, you'll have a much better appreciation for the story

Intentionally boring your viewers isn't a good idea. Just my opinion though..

I really wish I had read the book first, it actually makes the movie better.  Worse in a "hyped up for hollywood" sense.  But the DVD extras shed a lot of light on the real people.

greatness.

That entire movie is non-stop excellence.

When he tells the owner her son will grow up w/ a c0ck in his mouth or whatever it is he says...holy jeebus that was great.

Another great scene is when they're going to play the championship like old school hockey...so they get pummeled and at intermission the GM walks in and says scouts are there to see the baddest team in the minors.  All you hear is Newman say, "Scouts"? and then it flashes to brawls everywhere.
