Title: Xbox 360=paperweight
Post by: atybimf on July 10, 2007, 10:29:12 PM
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3160603 - this guy has gone through 11 Xbox 360's!

Quote
he list of problems is almost comically large: three red lights of death, two with disc read errors, two dead on arrival, several with random audio and video-related issues and one that actually exploded.

They've figured out what causes the red lights.  90% of the 360s that have the problem were plugged into surge protectors.  The power supply on the 360 couldn't handle the drop in voltage from the surge protector when there was a surge and it would cause the 360's power supply to overheat.

My 360 is currently getting fixed after a year of play due to the problem.  I'm not too concerned that it will need to be again since they've figured out what's causing it.  As for the CD tray errors and the rest of that crap, that's just standard defects that would come with any electronic device.

Yeah, my friend's 360 scratched GOW, FIFA, and Guitar Hero but he wasn't upset anymore after I told him that it was just a standard defect that comes with every electronic device.

I'm sorry if your friend is a dumbass for moving the 360 with the disc in the tray.  You should probably find smarter friends.

So am I not supposed to plug it into a surge protector? Help me young Chico.  :shy:

You're not supposed to lower the voltage on anything. If he had a PC plugged into that outlet it would have constantly crashed/surged just like the 360.

That's how most get scratched, however my friend's scratches anything when the 360 is standing up...dumbass? No.  Maybe if Microsoft wasn't in such a rush to get the 360 out they would have had time to put the missing stabilizer piece in..

Take it easy on Chico, he's still got a hangover/headache from playing XBox all night.  I'm still shocked he bought a sh*tty microsoft product!   :blindfold:
