Great idea for the fans but not so sure its a good idea for the team. How many other NCAA teams do you know that fall practice away from their home facility? :confused:

Just one practice. Doesn't hurt that much, plus not that bad of an idea to practice in a different place than you usally do 99% of the time.
Plus we need some more KSU exposure in KC area with Lawrence being so close and with lots of HS football talent in the area.

LMAO at people that are afraid of doing somthing different. First movers usually reap the biggest rewards.
Stoops has done it several times while at OU. Had one at Tulsa that drew couple thousand fans to the Memorial High School stadium. Of course OU fans said there was 12,000 fans at a stadium that held only 2,000 max.
I had thought that the NCAA had prohibited it, but I guess not.

It can help prepare for road trips and improve relationships with fans. Road trip preparation could help with a road opener, and good relationships with fans leads to higher attendance, more donations, etc.

ku did it in Topeka recently but I don't recall if it was during spring or fall.
August 11 is the date and my son told me classes don't start until August 20th or something like that so it isn't like the kids will be missing classes.
No bad from this at all. I like it.

I like the idea...we need lots of KSU Pride in this area....it infested by :kugayfight: it quite annoying actually. Cant wait for the game

It can help prepare for road trips and improve relationships with fans. Road trip preparation could help with a road opener, and good relationships with fans leads to higher attendance, more donations, etc.
For instance, we can make sure that the equipment manager brings the proper cleats so that he won't have to be fired later.

Me too...I go to the open practices in Manhattan but, this is going to be a nice change. Not to mention all of the incoming players will be there. It will definately be more entertaining than the spring game...

You guys are pretty niave you think this decision was strictly a Ron Prince decsion to go to Olathe for a practice. This event has Jon Wefald and Bob Krause stamped all over it as they will get to use that day to promote the new KSU-Olathe Biosciences campus that is going to be built right next to the CBAC. If you read the story that was in the Olathe paper it went on and on about how this is just the beginning of joint KSU-Olathe events and activities. Many ku folks are screaming loudly against KSU building a campus in Olathe and fighting it hard. Wefald, Krasue and the Olathe city gov't are doing their part to fight back.
Bringing the football team to Olathe and gathering a few thousand Wildcats together in one spot, even if it is to just watch a football practice, will go a long ways in making a statement that KSU and Olathe are going to do some good things together and the folks in Lawrence better get use to driving past a Wildcat campus as they drive back and forth between Lawrence and JoCo.

Let's just say that when the idea was presented to Prince he jumped at it because for him and his program recruiting is the big potential benefit. But for the people who presented the idea to him, Wefald, Krause and the city of Olathe they had a whole other agenda behind this event. Wefald and Krause have proven to us over and over that they are not fools and that they are not afraid to use whatever resources they have at their disposal as a tool to grow the brand they are charged to grow... Kansas State University.
