Title: Wolfmother concert last night at voodoo
Post by: dr00d on June 20, 2007, 02:37:31 PM
 :hookem: :hookem: :hookem: :hookem:

The only downside to the whole show was the crappy ass pop postal service-ripoff band that opened for them....the softlightes....

Wolfmother doesn't dissappoint.  I'll add mp3s of the live music from last night if you are interested.

Some might be familiar with Wolfmother from Guitar Hero 2, where their song "Woman" is on there.

nothing better than a music snob.  i like a lot of different kinds of music, but appreciate being called a 14-19 year old girl.
by the way, why didn't i see you at Danzig concert?
oh that's right... :ku:

See, this is why I never get involved in music threads/real life convo's.

I have no clue what is "cool" and what isn't. Damn.

There's the "pop" John Mayer, and then there's the "blues rock" John Mayer.  I can appreciate the later.

FWIW, their song on Guitar Hero is extremely annoying.

Jordan > anything.

I liked Ben Folds better when he was in Ben Folds Five

I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me."

john mayer = a classically trained and musically educated person who writes horrible music, with even worse singing. the blues can never be mainstream, it can never be a money making machine... look at buddy guy or the king. regardless, john mayer is a devil spawn of music like dave matthews band... who are just as horrible as mayer.

ben folds = a decent song writer who has had some fairly decent songs, but what it all comes down to is that I don't feel like sitting around my room and crying and listening to music all the time, and if i do there is much better music out there for it. he is a sad sappy sucker that hasn't been able to pass the line of mediocraty(sp?).

Ben Folds was really fun to watch, funner than Mayer.  I was surprised being that I don't know any of his stuff aside from the few songs that have made it to Top 40 radio.  Folds was climbing on his piano, interacting with the crowd, basically having a good time on stage.  I enjoyed drinking beer and watching him do his thing.

I have to admit, I like an occasional Ben Folds song, but let's face it...99% of the people that went to this concert, didn't go there for Ben Folds.  They were 14-19 year old girls who think that John Mayer is super hot and therefore writes great songs!  :chainsaw:

you should be. if you are interested here are some bands that make similar music: Field Music, Nada Surf, Menomena, Sufjan Stevens, Wilco. Wilco is where its at for that type of music, imo.

do any of you guys listen to any of the following: Four Tet, M83, Labradford, The Dead Texan, Boom Bip, Bark Psychosis, or any of Prefuse 73's side projects (Savath and Savalas, Delarosa and Asora). I just started listening to this stuff a lot more and i was wondering if you guys had any recommendations, if you are into that type of stuff.

same to you man. i dig the bukowski quote you have. supplements the already crass Tom Waits.
