It should be a given.  I wonder if we won this 3 years ago, during my first team state run.

So you're telling me it's overpriced, has horrible sports teams,  and the teachers have a thick accent that none of the students can understand?

Women (2006 state champs) and men's golf, baseball, girl's cross country, football, volleyball, wrestling (2007 state champs), girl's soccer. We should contend for state in basketball next year.

Weird how we are a golf powerhouse. Why is that?

Wrestling, I have no respect for that sport.

In my days, Manhattan dominated Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Track.

Good to see we're back on top.

It's by far one of our most successful sports. I have no idea why we are a powerhouse in golf, we have about twenty state championships in girl's golf and about ten in guy's golf.

For some reason, all their teams seemed to be composed of 2 great golfers, 2 mediocre golfers, and 2 absolutely terrible golfers (ok not that bad, but they wouldn't start on our team).  They also sucked under pressure.

Dunno about tennis though.

Oh, so living in Iowa City (one of the meccas of this ball-grabbing, molestery of a sport) and being dragged to numerous events and having two state champions in my family doesn't qualify me to make a judgment?
Sorry, man. Wrestlers, their over-inflated egos, and wearing cauliflower ear like a badge of courage comes off a little cultish to me.

I don't doubt that. However, our resident wrestler will tell us we just didn't have the dedication or heart to carry it out. Some wrestlers fail to understand that logic and love of a social life trumps wearing colored unitards and smelling like a gym mat.

I have no problem keeping a social life during the season, you only have to wear the uniforms during real matches then u can change..not a big deal, unless of course you were insecure about your "size", and i never smelled like a gym mat outside of practice and tournaments, cuz there's something called a shower.

It's one thing to make fun of a sport, it's another to respect it. From an earlier post on this thread, it was said they have no respect for it...then gave no reason why. I just find it hard to believe that u, an ex-wrestler with two state champion family members and having lived in Iowa City, have no respect for it. That is why i want validation. Almost everyone i know has respect for it, especially wrestlers.

That's not really why you're seeking validation. You sought validation before I even stepped into this thread. Fatty said he didn't respect wrestling and you asked why. So any background I added is irrelevant. What you're asking is this: Why don't people in general respect wrestling? Isn't that correct?

Actually I went ahead and did some of your work for you. You and most wrestlers want respect because you claim "it's hard".
Quote
You guys should actually look into the sport and find out more about it and how much hard work it takes before you can just say you "have no respect". grow some f*cking balls.
And then claimed that we had no "f*cking balls." Which, I'm not really sure it takes balls to find out more about a sport, but that's kind of beside the point.
I guess my point is this: why do you care who respects wrestling? Because it's hard? I don't respect UFC fighting, and it's hard. In fact, let's admit it's probably harder than wrestling, right?
The next thing I always hear about wrestling is that it's an "art form." I'm sure scat porn directors think theirs is a form of art too.
This is probably what I'll leave you with...I'm not going to tell you if I respect it or not. What I'm going to recommend is you stop taking it so seriously....which, by the way, proves my point about the obsessive business. You fell right into this trap.

Hey, i'm just trying to defend my sport, that's all. i bet it would bug you if i told u i had absolutely no respect for whatever it is u do and then gave no reason why.

Actually I went ahead and did some of your work for you. You and most wrestlers want respect because you claim "it's hard".

Excellent response. You make enough baseless, poorly thought out assumptions that it might qualify you to teach a graduate level course in the subject. You could also teach a course in boorish, homogenous monikers, but that's an argument for a different day.
Don't you think it's a little self-serving of you to assert something that, since few people on the board know me, I'd have a little difficulty disproving? Particularly since I used....I dunno....your own posts to make my point?
The activities I engaged in during high school, college and my adult life already don't get the respect that your pointless hobby disguised as a sport get...so...get ready...I figured that out before I had the chance to care. Yet here you are, running around like a high and mighty attention whore because, in your subjective opinion, it's harder than what other people do. Since you read emoticons better than text, you might want to read that last sentence again.
You see what I'm driving at, you validation-seeking &@#%wit, is that it's an opinion that a hobby or sport someone engages in is to be respected. You've driven this even further by having the opinion that what you do is harder than other things. Hence, like a child seeking validation from his parents after finishing a crapty finger painting, you get all worked up when you don't get the respect you feel you've earned since the work (in your opinion) was so hard for you.
I, on the other hand, understand that mine isn't the only opinion in the universe. I go on doing what I do because I enjoy it. And isn't that the point of a hobby or sport? Unlike you, I'm not running around trying to impress everyone only to get shot down because they don't think I deserve a reacharound for it.
Note for future crapty arguments you're going to make: your continuous use of "u" rather than "you" might be saving you a split second when typing, but it hints that you're a ten-year-old texting your mother to come pick you up.

haha that's pretty funny i'm not going to lie. although, you've still never explained WHY you don't give respect. maybe i am seeking validation, so what, i'm just curious. go ahead and look through my posts, not once did i say that what i do is harder than other things....or is that one of your...dare i say...assumptions.

You're saying it's hard work, and just possibly implying it's tougher than other sports. If it's an assumption, the score is Kilgore: one or two, kstate16: lots.
Also, one would argue this assumption isn't as baseless as yours. You're assuming based on nothing that I'd be offended by disrespect. I'm assuming that you're claiming it's harder based on the quoted text. Much less of a reach.

I'm sorry, most people do get offended by disrespect, so it's not really a baseless assumption.  I guess you're just different, my bad.

I won money from a certain MHS golfer the week after he won the 6A title.

True.

Did you play him straight up or did he give you strokes?

If it doesn't involve a ball, it is not a sport.

well it presumably has four hairy balls rubbing on each other
