A lot of rival fans love to laugh at us for taking a shot at Frank Martin. I think he'll be great for us, but he's obviously still unproven at this point. What's it gonna take before he'll be looked at as a good/great head coach? I have a feeling any success we have this year will be credited to the class we have coming in. Would a good tourny run and a Top20 class for '08 start to change the perception? Or does he need a few years in a row making the tourny and recruiting decently?
Related question: If he does bring the talent and make the tourny multiple times, how long does it take our AD to re-work the contract to try to keep him here awhile?

By whom, rival fans?
If you're looking for validation from them, the answer to the question would be, "being hired away by some other school." Then they'll point out what a tremendous loss he is.

All I can say is that when the pain train arrives, you just &@#%ing know it.

Martin has excelled at every coaching position he has had, why would anyone think that he can’t succeed in college too? He was a top notch high school coach that won state championships in Florida (and was eventually acquitted for the violations that caused his ouster). He has been a successful college assistant coach and a highly effective recruiter. He has a lot of contacts and confidents amongst high school and AAU coaches. It was only a matter of time until he got his shot as a college head coach. I think any nay saying by rival programs is driven more by concern that Martin may excel than criticism of K-State choice...
