the first thing that popped into my mind?

I can see OU and USC. But Miami is an also ran playing in a half-empty stadium in games where the metro police need to break up brawls.
Perhaps Butler should be giving some more advice steered toward programs that show a bit more character and discipline than Miami, perhaps?

I remember hearing something about Butler possibly being offered a position at Miami. I'm not sure where I heard it but I am sure that I heard it. It could have been someone just speculating on something though. Take it fwiw.
-
yeah......you'd think.
-
I agree, Miami has fallen in the one thing they were good at, winning football games. Now they are just a mediocre undisciplined program where thug behavior flourishes and has for a while. Add that to a very apathetic fan base and it doesn't seem so attractive unless you walk to the beach.

There is nothing that depicts a more accurate picture of "the U".

gotta love the flag waver in the middle of the fight

Manhatter, certainly your not questioning the all mighty Brian Butler.....are you you?????
He's gonna get every Kansas HS player to "big name" schools!!!!!!! :dancin:

Is it possible we could bring back the "towel snapper" for such events? We might be able to land in Arthur's top 3 if we start a brawl w/ San Jose State and a towl snapper is in the middle of it all.
-
I love the Miami Hurricanes. Other than fan support, I can only dream of KSU being like them.
-
Anyone remember Dan Morgan pimping KSU on college gameday in 2000?
sigh....the days when we were a national power....
-
I love watching their athletes but not their football. They are easily the worst in the nation in terms of execution. It's hilarious to watch an offense w/ 5 first rounders try to get a 1st down.

FSU-UM battles = :yuck: offense

thankfully...on 45-42 not that :yuck: offense led to 30-0 Wake in Tallahassee thus turning tv sets across the nation to Texas beatdown.
Can't beat that type of coverage w/ a stick.

no sh1t, but how can you not have a soft part for what they did to UCLA in 1998? For a 10 minute period, I was the happiest 11 year old in the world.

Anyone remember the Colorado/Miami beaut? One of the only particulars I remember is a (CU?) player attempting a flying karate kick on an opposing player. IT. WAS. AWESOME!
The rules committee cracked down on fighting after a series of bench-clearing brawls during the 1993 season, one of them involving Miami at Colorado in which 12 players were ejected.

LOL @ Ned!

Did anyone see my linked 1991 cotton bowl youtube? It was awesome, the Miami players were just mocking Texas en route to a 46-3 win.

Saw it and one of the top 10 greatest moments in CFB history. That has got to be youtubed somewhere...there was a thread a few years ago on CU board talking about it when they were about to play Miami. One of the Miami players suspended because of the fight was Ray Lewis if I remember it correctly.

the receiving running up the ramp and shooting his guns in the tunnel...outstanding entertainment. You know the conservative UT fans were sitting there going "wtf"?

No luck on video. The kick was made by Westbrook. I thought so, but didn't want to be wrong. This writer confirms my analysis that it was in fact a karate kick.
His team had fallen behind Miami by more than two touch-downs when Colorado's Michael Westbrook, rated the preseason No. 1 wide receiver in college football by The Sporting News, got himself ejected for staging a karate demonstration during a brawl just before halftime.

I remember once listening to McCartney describe a highlight of Westbrook on a long touchdown pass. Westbrook was showboating by slowing down almost to a walk and strutting into the endzone, holding the ball at his side. McCartney says, "there you can see Michael is getting a little tired at the end of that run." It would have been funny if he was joking. It was even funnier, though, because I don't think he was.
