I'm not sure. Any music experts out there?
I'm tempted to say yes, but they really don't think they did extraordinary, other than writing near-perfect pop songs and performing them pretty well.

I'm no music expert, but I think so. Can you honestly listen to a ton of their songs and not like it? When you have so many songs that are so recognized then you did something right especially when they're liked and recognized by numerous generations.

Great band.
-
I agree, great band...
-
Heck yeah, dude.

Y

i would say so because they had a definitive sound. when a creedence song comes on there is no question. not to mention i think, unintentionally, their music came to represent the Vietnam War and all its protests and controversy better than any other music I can think of. and sonically, yes, they wrote amazing pop music that is still finding fans today. great band.

Yep. CCR Chronicles = great album.
-
Absolutely.
-
Every college kid from then until now knows who they are, so yes...I guess.
-
Simply put, yes, even if they wrote songs about protesting the war, it wasn't out of ignorance.

I think we're all in agreement. CCR=great band. Fogerty can really write a pop song.

Unique sound in the Era when everyone was trying to sound unique but often sounded like eachother. I think that's what set's them apart.

I've got CCR's Greatest Hits CD in my car right now, and of the 20 songs on the disc, I legitimately like 17 of them. The only CD I've ever owned that topped that was Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell" -- a perfect 7 for 7.

You like 17 of them because all 17 sound the same.
Not a bad thing, but CCR was the first Aerosmith. Def Leppard was the third Aerosmith.

I hate Aerosmith.
hate
-
aerosmith doesn't sound the same. album to albumt they change. they are the chamelions of the music world. i &@#%ing hate aerosmith with a passion, and pissed that their only decent song, "Dream On," was written by Robert Plant and not used by Led Zeppelin... because if Zeppelin had done it, it would have been that much better. Aerosmith are &@#%ing chumps that don't deserve any respect what so ever. Except for that sweet video game they had.

You know, you might be right. Which is weird. I've always loved Meatloaf because each of his songs sound so different. I've always loved CCR because all of their songs sound the same. I've got a comfort level with both.

It hit me when I'd come across a CCR song halfway through, and it would take me a bit to figure out which song it was. And my first thought was almost always wrong.
Great stuff. When you have a winning formula, don't screw with it.
