...as the top player in the nation. (going to visit southern schools this summer)
I can't think of a better way to represent Kansas than to play for THE home state school.
reppin' Kansas can't be done in a USC, Florida, or OU uniform.
Lead, don't follow.
that is all.
:)
-
You can represent Kansas somewhere else...
-
You can represent Kansas somewhere else...
Like the NFL after his four years of eligibilty are up at K-State.
-
You can represent Kansas somewhere else...
no you really can't without looking tell me where Kevin Durant is from? Or tell me where Greg Oden is from? Go play at USC and no one will know or care where he's from.

Agree 100%. How many people outside of KS know that Kamerion Wimbley is from Kansas. He will always be known as a Florida State guy and not a KS guy.
-
I think he wants to "represent" that kids from Kansas can play....not represent Kansas. We have beautifiul women who dress up in night gowns and swimming suits to represent our state.
-
no, I do not know where Durant is from...I am sure 99% of america assumes that he is from the state of Texas.
-
If he goes to SC, all he has to do is wear the "316" eye black to represent Kansas.
-

I think Durant was from Maryland.
-
Whats a better way to represent Kansas than carry the Kansas flag out onto the K-State football field? Give it to him every game if thats what he wants to do! (Until his brother is here, then they can trade off)
-
I think Barry Sanders represents Kansas well, and he sure didn't go to school in state.
-

Only Kansas folks knows he is from Kansas.

exactly.... - everone knows that Sproles is a Kansas kid because he went to KSU
-
Out of concern for your feelings, if he goes to Nebraska I'll be sure to email Coach Callahan and ask him to put the Kansas state flag on the back of his red jersey, just so no one forgets where he's from. :beerchug: :hope:

Now that's just not true. Fact is most folks probably have no idea where he's from. But to those who do care, he makes it very clear he was raised in Ta-Town.
Everyone knows Joe Montana is from Pennsylvania even though he played at Notre Dame. You know Adrian Peterson was from Texas even though he played at OU. You knew Lew Alcindor was a New York kid even though he was at UCLA. I could go on and on.
Plenty of Kansans have represented our state well by living/working elsewhere. Saying Brown can't represent Kansas well by attending school out of state is a little silly. But I understand the bias on this issue.

The comment sounds like bullcrap more than anything else.

Arthur is proud to be reppin ICT and Kansas. Hatterz fer real, the best way to rep Kansas is to stay and play in state. Those outside coaches ain't respected us Kansas boys in the past, and all of a sudden the secret gets out and they want to come swoopin in and playin like they deserve our loyalty after ignoring us for so long? &@#% that noise. We don't sell out like that. We're loyal, know what I'm sayin? It's our responsibility to rep our state and everything good, and sellin out to go play for some out of state school would be like disrespecting everyone I know. I just can't do that to my boyz or myself.

Someone needs to check his facebook thing.

wow, examples of Montana(hall of famer) and Lew Alcindor(HOF). Duh. And Peterson was known Texan because half the OU roster is from Texas.
a few replies look to be auditioning for the role of the antagonist.
chum, of course, it's bullsh*t talk. But don't tell anybody.
Rocky Calmus was an Oklahoma kid. Announced his decision publicly near signing day. Came down to KSU, Ohio State, and OU. Stepped to the mic' and repped the home state school. At the time KSU and Ohio State were perennial top 10 type team and OU was around .500 and coached by John Blake. He said he was not the Kansas player of the year or Ohio player of the year and put on a sooner cap. Let's hope Arthur follows in the footsteps w/ the state pride thing(and dissing BV) and not the school Calmus chose.

Didn't mean to get folks so riled up. I'm a Kansas kid. But the fact remains, sometimes to represent your state the best thing you can do is leave it. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I'll leave it alone from now on. Sorry for stating an opinion that did not jive with some of you. Lordy.

I guess you've missed the part about recruits reading message boards.
Not necessarily Arthur, but certain other high profile Wichita recruits, who may speak to Arthur on occasions.

This place truly is becoming old GPC revival. Phreak is the new Redinsi or whatever his name is.

"F%=ck the Free World, 316!" "F%=ck the Free World, 316!"
Just doesn't have the same ring as 8 mile
If he doesn't come to KSU, I hope he goes somewhere we never have to play him. It was tough watching DeAngelo Evans run all over KSU in 96.

Someone that would throw a hissy fit when something about a recruit with any kind of negative angle was posted. He had a lot of anxiety about message boards seriously jeopardizing KSU's chances to land recruits.

He can represent himself well as a Kansas kid at an out of state school but if he really wants to represent Kansas he should stay in state. Gale Sayers is known as the Kansas Comet but he's from Nebraska. You're always going to be associated with the place you went to school when I think of Peyton Manning I think of Tennesee not Louisiana. I could on and on of examples like that it's just the way it is. Those of us that follow recruiting closely normally know where a kid is from because we knew who they were before they chose a school but to the other 99% of the population they know you by where you went to school.

Even on a premium board?
And is he still around? I see the potential for a lot of fun with this guy. :fiesta:
-
Fun? Yeah. Enough to want him around? Yeah, I guess so.

You've got no worries. That term does not apply to this situation. Besides, you'd have plenty of company on this board if it did.

But yeah, usually you only hear about where they played in college..
