He is absolutely sick. We're talking Danny Hogan type of highlights. And of course, "KSU is recruiting me the hardest". Bama and OU have offered.
Reminds me of this guy: http://kansasstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=46255

great speed for his body type. definitely a 'bruiser.' linebackers were bouncing off of him like they were nothing. a little weight and he could be an amazing fullback.
-
Is anybody else thinking he could be converted into one hell of a linebacker
-
Phreaks, no he does not have "great speed". There are guys his size who have a lot more wheels. But he is a GREAT athlete. He's a very good player.
no on thinking about converting him to LB. He's a natural as a RB.
That kid is DAMN good. Javorskie Lane type build and Michael Bush type athleticism. Looks like a good receiver too.
We need some big RB's. Take this kid and the Childs kid. Childs is a tremendous athlete too who could wind up being more Michael Bush like. Bush was roughly 220 coming out of high school.
-
He's a FB that runs a 4.5
That doesn't count as great speed anymore?
-
so do you believe the speed in the profile or what your own eyes see? That kid is more like a 4.85, maybe a 4.9 and that's fine given his size/athleticism/skill. Hey, Lendale White wouldn't beat a 4.7 and that is why he kept dodging running the 40 for scouts.
-
I'm naive. So sue me.
Even if he ran a 5.0, he's a powerful runner and breaks through tackle after tackle. With a few pounds on him, he could be an ideal FB.
-
Prince wouldn't use him as a FB because we don't have a true fullback. He will use him in a one back set in power formations.
You're not being naive. He's a very good player. I want the kid in purple. And you're correct...the 5.0 doesn't matter because he has the skill, athleticism, and power.
-
Didn't Prince try out the I-formation a few times last year, using one of our TE's as a FB?
I was under the impression it was something he wanted to implement in the future, but wanted to get the basics down first(double tight?)
Although this guy would be great for those short yardage gains. How many 1st and goals did we piss away last year with hand offs? I remember a stretch around the Mizzou game that felt like it lasted forever..Predictable playcalling, Prince didn't want to risk Freeman throwing it once we were inside the 10 so he'd hand it off all 3 downs and then kick a field goal. Not a knock on Patton or Johnson, because when the defense knows what's coming it's tough to execute.
Luckily he finally broke that pattern when Josh threw a 5 yard pass for a TD at the ISU game(I think.)
-
I would prefer this guy leading the way at the goal line instead of McCardel (ball of knives), but that's just me.
-
Oh my goodness...
-
I like him. I like the other offers he has too. But don't we do poorly recruiting fullbacks lately?
-
"Kansas State is recruiting me the hardest right now."
-
He's like Joe Hall, except faster, better hands and less gut. "Abs" topped this :dive: with his somersault into the end zone...

I know Prince has a new system but I thought as of late that we didn't utilize a fullback as well in comparison to other systems/programs. In turn I'd heard that it was harder for us to land fullbacks.
-
This guy isn't a blocking back, he's a running back.
Our system has room for running backs.

Sounds good to me.
