Huggs wife liked Manhattan. Snyder likes Manhattan. I'm pretty sure I've heard about Prince liking Manhattan. All of the assistant coaches and Frank Martin like it here. Beasley and his mom like it here. People don't usually like the idea of moving to Manhattan if they've never been though...

Ox, where did you hear that Freeman and Patton like it here?

Where is your proof in the above statement?  I don't count Huggie's wife...He left after one year on the job...

Which ones are you disputing? It is pretty well known by now that Huggie's whole family didn't want him to go because they liked it here and Huggins himself said he liked it here. Jenna Huggins actually posted it on her wall in response to some asshole after Huggs left. Beasley's mom has said she likes it here (she's moving here) and said how much Michael liked it here. Frank Martin has said now on multiple occasions that he likes it here and how much his assistant coaches likes it here. Dalonte Hill turned down a coaching position at Georgetown to stay here. Greenwalt didn't follow Huggins when Huggins was the only connection he had to K-State and stayed here. It's pretty easy to infer..

Outside of athletics . . . be glad only certain people "get" Manhattan and the quality of life it has.   After living on the East Coast for 10 years, you discover real fast what it's like in areas that everybody thinks is great . . . they're over run in a matter of a few years.

Just as nearly all people think that they are smarter than most, nearly all people think that they live in a nice place.  It's probably some type of innate survival mechanism.  A good one.

Yeah, so Doc, I , um well, I don't really know how to put this, but I am very proud feeling in my pants...do you have any creams that will help that proudness go away, or will I feel proud several times a years for the rest of my life?

I had the chance to talk with Bill Walker last night (5/17).  Bill if you are reading this thanks for taking the time to talk with a fan from Oakley who was bicycling with his 2 boys in the trailer.

I rapped on the motor home door hoping Bill was inside.  Bill along with Coach Frank Martin, Marcus Watts and several other KSU athletes were in town all day yesterday participating in a Catbacker Golf Tournament.  To my great delight Bill opened the door and we had a nice one on one chat.  I introduced him to my boys and told my oldest, Eric (4) that this guy (Bill) was on TV.  Eric's eyes widened and he said, "Cool!"

Bill and I talked about several things.  I shared with him how I was upset, as was most of the K-State Nation when we all learned about Huggins departure.  I also shared with him how I was excited to see that he decided to stay at K-State.  I told Bill I was looking forward to seeing him and Michael Beasley play together and off of each other.  He too is looking forward to next year as well.

We also had a good laugh about the popcorn eating and when he was laughing at Jason Bennett when Bennett fouled out.  Regarding JB, Bill wishes JB the best and said Jason has a lot of potential.  That showed a lot of character on Bill's part.  He could have just as easily said mean things about JB, but he did not.

Being from West Virginia , Bill said he really liked Manhattan .  It is small, but it is nice.  I laughed and told him he ought to try living in Oakley (pop 1900) to really experience small town living.  He said he really enjoyed the Midwest and appreciated all the hard working farming community and the sincerity of those in rural Kansas .  We talked about character and I related to Bill how I thought that was the one thing that impresses me the most in an athlete is his/her character.  I shared my admiration of Darin Sproles in how he had a heart of humility and how that impressed me.

Bill was the nicest gentleman in taking the time to talk with me.  While I was a Bill Walker fan before... I'm an even greater Bill Walker fan now.  To Bill, Frank, and the rest of the K-State Basketball program:  Thanks for bringing True K-State Pride back to our Basketball program.

My boys were getting anxious and ready to continue our bike ride so I said goodbye and wished him and the rest of the team well, and that we'd be cheering for them this next season.

Thanks for the Chat Bill.

Prince, "This is home for me"

***

From the press conference barely a year ago, introducing Bob Huggins as K-State's basketball coach.

Quote
"I am really excited about this opportunity," Huggins said. "I don't know if I've ever been around nicer people. People more committed to doing things the right way and more committed to student-athletes."

Quote
"I'm excited about coming here and continuing to build this basketball program, playing in the NCAA Tournament and the other things that you are supposed to do," Huggins said.

"I think this is it for me"

I still don't understand how NU fans can make fun of Prince. He did much better than Callahan did in his first year and Callahan inherited a team coming off of a nine win season. Are you guys that retarded?

When asked what he is up to:
"im just chillin, just tryin to get out of manhattan....wat u up to"

When someone posted that they were coming to KSU for college from Cincy just so they could see him play his response was:
"you cant be serious..aint crap out here man.."

His "status" on facebook a few weeks ago:
"Bill is outta town. thank god...be back soon doe"

I would place a bet that Prince will make it in coaching in the NFL before Cally gets an invite back.

Better? LOL. They were in completely different situations, but thanks for playing. Prince had nowhere near the transition to make that Callahan did. Watch as we slap your "homosexual purple" clad kitties down this year in Lincoln...it'll be fun to watch, but unfortunately not a very competitive game.

My prediction: NU 49, KSU 14.

My cousin rides in the peace treaty.  That side of the family is from the Medicine Lodge/Pratt area, owned a ranch in that area since the early 1900's.  Pretty cool area down there, certainly off the beaten path.
