ESPN calls Blaine Gabbert the best prospect in years. Combine that with the best offensive line class in the country, and four verbals commitments from the Rivals Top 100, and the future for Nebraska is looking good. It also appears that NU is the only team in the Big 12 North with verbal commits from the Rivals Top 100.

Huge pickup for Huskers as QB Gabbert commits
Blaine Gabbert, ESPN's No. 1 quarterback prospect in the Class of 2008, has picked Nebraska, bigrednetwork.com reports. Several programs including Missouri, Iowa, Alabama and more were believed to be after the highly touted junior.

Boner, dude! :ku:

Don't be jealous....just more evidence that Kansas State will never be in the same league as the Huskers. Guys like Gabbert are the same ones who will be torching your little purple Homocats in a couple of years. It's important to learn their names now, so that you'll recognize the guys dnacing in the endzone down there in Manhattan. :)
-
we have no evidence which suggest he won't be Matt Leinart and you have no evidence which suggests he won't be Ron Powlus.
congrats.

You're right Hatter. I mean in the last recruiting class Nebraska took a 3 star QB named Patrick Witt that everyone says wasn't real good and he looked like a future first round draft pick this spring.
-
I actually feel sorry for these kids who are being hoodwinked by Callahan...I wonder what he is paying these kids?
-
Look guy, if we want him we'll just have RP swing by his place...say about a month 'til signing day. Don't worry, he'll text you his decision.

You claiming 1st round draft pick based on some spring practices and a scrimmage?????????? :jerkoff:
Wait, wait... Carson Coffman looked like the second coming based on his spring performance, and he's our back up!!!!

Who will be coaching them by their senior seasons? :jerkoff:

The kid is a freak both in terms of his physical abilities and his ability to learn and execute the offense. His learning curve has been on a more accelerated pace than most NFL rookies. The staff won't say it but he is far far better than they thought they were getting.

Andrew Luck >>>> Blaine Gabbert. None of the big dogs were even after this scrub. Big Dogs = a team that appeared in a BCS bowl game last year (OU never offered).

Tom Luginbill, Scouts Inc ESPN--Gabbert #1 QB in the country.
Evaluation: Gabbert is one of the best quarterbacks we have seen in the last three classes combined. He is the ideal blend of being a pocket passer and athlete woven all into one package, very much in the same mold as former Michigan State QB Drew Stanton. He has outstanding size, mobility and arm strength for a player at this stage and all the measurables you look for are present. Gabbert is a pocket passer with impressive overall touch, timing and accuracy. He gets good RPMs on the deep-out route and is able to fit the ball into some tight spots. He has a very smooth and relaxed throwing motion. Keeps the ball high while dropping and shows a compact, quick delivery. Mechanics are consistent, and he is a very confident passer -- stands tall, steps into his throws and is very balanced. Possesses a powerful downfield arm and demonstrates an array of different throws. He has a knack for zinging the skinny post, shows the touch to lay the ball in between linebackers and safeties and does an excellent job leading receievers on slants, crossing routes and digs. Also does a good job of recognizing coverages and leading his WRs to soft spots in zone. Sells pump-fakes and play-action fakes well -- is a good ball handler. What is so surprising about Gabbert when you look at him on the hoof is his impressive mobility and running skills. He is mobile and a threat to run. Is a dual-threat guy who can be very dangerous when he breaks contain. Shows some elusiveness as a runner. Also is a tough, competitive runner who knows where the first-down marker is when he takes off to run. Lacks explosiveness and initial burst but has deceptive speed. Coaches will feel he has very few, if any physical weaknesses. He is a unique prospect given his size and physical tools at this stage.

You know you are reaching when you start looking towards ESPN for recruiting news.
-
BN/CF- Can you remind me the last big name QB UNL tried recruiting? Thats right, he is at K-State.
-
And we see what happens to a QB that goes to Kansas State. Freeman is just awful right now and hasn't been coached up a bit.
-
Helluva prospect.
-
Freeman does have a better big 12 record than Bill Callahan.

I love nubb fans. They never disappoint when it comes to hyperbole.

This is an important message from the Management at KSUFANS.
This thread contains extremely large amounts of Nebraska Kool-Aid in it. It has known hallucinogenic properties and causes increased euphoria and feelings of (unwarranted) superiority for those who are infected with it. There are anecdotal reports of serious lapses in judgment and those who have been infected should not drive automobiles, trucks, forklifts, ice cream vans, or operate dangerous equipment. Signs that someone may have ingested Nebraska Kool-aid are those that believe a recruit has capabilities before he plays in school, has been designated a first round draft pick, and shows talent well above his years, or all of these and before being coached by Bill Callahan. There is no known antidote. It appears to be highly contagious to other GBR and HUSKER fans. It shows it's greatest epidemic reach during recruiting reports. While it does not appear to be fatal, it has been known to cause mild irritation among those who are not infected, including headache, nausea or extreme hysterical laughing. Some more violent cases of wild outbursts or vomiting from those who come in contact with infected people. You may even be called "in denial" if you run into one. The best course of action is to clear the area immediately, call your local hazmat team and have the individuals infected quarantined. Some known responses that seem to negate the effects of the infected include "Harrison Beck" or "70-10".
Thank you for your attention. Please, stay away from this thread.
Management.

Ok, that was actually mildly humorous.

A friend of mine was a teammate of Gabbert. Says he's a tool.

Arthur would make a huge impact for 3 years.

Beasley.
#1/2 NBA draft pick = big-time.

When the Auburn staff came up for spring practices, their offensive coordinator Al Borges couldn't believe Witt was basically a high school senior.

LOL@SCOUTS INC RECRUITING
they're seriously atleast a month behind on everything now when rivals ranks him #1 THEN you've got somthing
-
Scouts Inc is, to my knowledge, the only recruiting service that has former NFL and professional football scouts on their payroll.

and 90% of the time, atleast this i know of KSU's scouts inc recruiting anyway it could be different for nebraska's, it sucks
look i'm not saying don't be excited about him because i would be if he commited to KSU, i just dont trust scouts inc judgment on recruiting

"...I wonder what he is paying these kids?"
I wonder what papa freeman is getting paid, oh yeah, $90,000 a year
-
"BN/CF- Can you remind me the last big name QB UNL tried recruiting? Thats right, he is at K-State."
sam keller, zac lee. both at nebraska. It's funny though, hearing ksu fans going on and on about landing freeman. the guy that throws 3 interceptions for every touchdown. They must think we miss him or something, they must think we aren't set at qb or something and wish we had freemans interception throwing servies
-
Funny thing is Freeman's big 12 record of 4-3 (57%) is better than Cally's 13-12 (52%) record.
That isn't just funny, that is hysterical.

You'll beat eating those words this fall

Actually, he doesn't have that job anymore. Rumor has it that after Freeman's sixth turnover against ku Prince called the GOP and told them to pull the plug on old Ron Freeman.
-
Congrats, you beat out Mizzou, Iowa and Alabama. :jerkoff: Until you beat out Texas, USC, ND and Florida's of the world, I'm not that impressed.
-
i love how every single nebraska and ku fan is banking on Freeman failing this year. have they ever maybe came up with the thought that just maybe freeman might do well?

Why post this? Sorry to call out another husker fan but going onto other teams boards and bragging about this makes us look really bad, not good.
The happiness I had about this news last night was tainted when I saw what pricks a few of our fans were being to Mizzou fans, Colorado fans, and KSU fans...on their boards.
Besides, it is a long way until February, he lives in Missouri, and we've had this blow up in our face before. Doing this just sets us up to look like asses if anything happens.

I have. He was inconsistent last year--which is perfectly fine considering he was a freshman--but in the games he played well (Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma State) he showed a huge upside. He really, really needs protection though.

The OP is lost. He meant to post at http://www.kansasstate.rivals.com/forum.asp?sid=889&fid=10 (http://www.kansasstate.rivals.com/forum.asp?sid=889&fid=10)
That's the official stupid NU fan, stupid KSU fan free-for-all board.

beating out bama is pretty impressive. you have the highest paid coach in the industry working there, who also happens to be a former nfl hc and a national champion winning hc in college. Lets see you get a bluechipper away from bama, one that was so interested he visited. also, major applewhite is a rising star in the coaching community and is becoming a good recruiter.

Good pickup, no doubt. Looks like the order will be restored in the north like it used to be during our better years. You guys will start taking the North title at the highest rate, we'll win it a decent amount of the time, and Mizzou or Colorado can win it if they get lucky.
-
Freeman will be better this year
Itake B-Easy over Gabbert...we have seen B-Easy play and he is bringing past teammates with him - there won't be a "getting to know each other" period....they already have played together and will do great.
-
Some of these posts are why everyone laughs at the cornhole fans.
"Did you see that 4th string tackle in the Spring Game, he already looks like a high 2nd round draft pick".
"My god that graduate assistant has the best looking headset in college football, no other program can provide a headset to a graduate assistant like Nebraska Football can . . . NO ONE!!".

You guys can joke all you like... but I'm honestly getting scared... Nu has the most talented athletes in all of college football.... What's going to happen when they fire Callahan and bring in a respectable coach? Does anyone remember what OU's record was the year before Stoops got there?
Seriously though... what would happen if they got a coach that didn't suck?
-

Nothing . . . they just be a little better, but no where close to what they think they're getting back too. Remember, it took Tom Osborne 25 years to get too what they want to get back too now.

Scouts Inc is, to my knowledge, the only recruiting service that has former NFL and professional football scouts on their payroll.
And they have him ranked as the number 54 overall player. I can't imagine someone being both the "best quarterback prospect in the last three years combined" (per ESPN) and being only the 54th best prospect in this class alone. So which is it guys? Either way, your coach blows, so I am not worried. Looks like you all have several good prospects at QB, so I expect him to ruin one's (Keller's) pro chances this year, have a couple transfer (Witt being one) and then ruin this kids pro career chances for a couple years after that. Looking at the big numbers your boy Taylor put up, one would think he surely think he was drafted highly. Wait, that didn't happen? Sorry boys, but putting up big numbers when you throw the ball forty times a game doesn't equate to high draft status. If you need validation, feel free to call one of Tech's QB's from the last seven years. I'm sure they can take time out of their busy arena bowl league schedules to answer your call.
