Title: Hoops recruiting...
Post by: ksu_FAN on May 15, 2007, 07:55:15 AM
Martin plans to announce tomorrow, the final day of the spring signing period. (http://www.cjonline.com/stories/051507/cat_169964754.shtml)

1st 08 commit?  Sounds like we're going to take the wait and see approach. (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07135/786075-49.stm)

i don't mind the jeter thing.  nothing promised, but ksu has a foot in the door if he is needed.  seems appropriate.

Jeter could be a good late signee to help soften the (expected) blow of NBA defections.

I agree, we are doing this well.  We might have found a diamond, we might not, but we're not tied to anything.  If he goes to JUCO and looks like he should play at Akron, he'll play there.  If he shows he's a Big 12 player, we've got our foot in the door and he's likely a Cat.  I think its a good move by Underwood.

I thought I read somewhere that he was an Oppenheimer recruit.  No?

That was just me guessing, due to the Oppenheimer/Duquesne history.

FAN could really be guessing, too.

And we could both be right - maybe Opp made the initial contact, Underwood found him a quality Juco?

Just going by this:

But Kansas State assistant coach Brad Underwood called Jeter recently, and Kansas State urged the 6-foot-3 guard to attend Hutchinson for a year.

I wouldn't be surprised that Oppenheimer knew about him also from Kent though.

Did Jason Bennett's 5-stars make him a good basketball player?

I'd say they helped him about as much as Cole's McDAA appearance.

No, the stars didn't make him a good bb player.  I bet a smooth argyle sweater and a bottle of wine would make him look pretty cool, though.  Anyone know where I can get a picture of a douchebag in an argyle sweater sipping on wine?  Anybody?
