KSU will ask the Regents to amend the FY 2007 Capital Improvement Budget to construct 28 open air loge style suites in Bramlage at a price tag of $2.4 million, with the funds already on deposit at the KSU Foundation.
-
So 28 people have already signed up and put a deposit down for these?
-
The Regents meeting agenda doesn't say that, it just says the funds are on deposit with the KSU Foundation.
-
i donated 250k already.
thats enough.

I hope they keep those LED thingy's at the top of the arena. looks good.

The LED's are too distracting and take away from the Women's NIT Championship banner. Pitch 'em.

So how much do these cost? We always talk about not having enough rich alumnus, but yet we build these things or offer premium seats (i.e. court side) or increase donation requirements for basketball and/or football and they get filled.
-
two different cats.
we don't have the kind of alumni that drop $150M+ on the athletic department.
but we do have alumni that will shell out jack for premium seats.
it's like the difference between being wealthy and being rich. chris rock has an excellent explanation of this.

Well, when Jack Vanier left the board of ADM he held 13.7 million shares of ADM common stock, if he still holds that many shares today, that alone is worth $489 million. Toss in years of getting paid dividends by ADM, his other holdings blah, blah, blah. I think Jack Vanier qualifies as being rich.
Warren Staley a KSU alum is Chairman and CEO of Cargill . . . depending on who you ask, Cargill is either the 1st or 2nd largest privately held company in the United States, and he also sits on the boards of BancCorp and Target. I bet he's got a few bucks. I know he gave a undisclosed amount of money to the KSU Center for Leadership Studies.
Bill Porter the Founder of Etrade got his masters degree in Physics from KSU, and he just gave KSU $1 million dollars for scholarships.
John Hoffmeister the President of Shell Oil has two degrees from KSU.
That's just a few examples of KSU alumni that I am pretty sure all qualify as rich.

i see why tim weiser disavowed you. you're dumber than a rock.
we don't have the kind of alumni that drop $150M+ on the athletic department.
having it and and giving it are two incredibly different things. but i'm sure in your world, where playhouse disney runs 24x7, it's all weiser's fault that none of those guys have caughed up $150M.
how many full scholarships does $1M endow, by the way?

you call dax dumber than a rock and then throw out a "caughed"

Just where did I say that ALL of those guys were going to give money to KSU athletics, let alone give KSU athletics $150 Million?? Where did I say it was Weiser's fault that he hasn't gotten any of those people to give KSU athletics $150 Million dollar?? Where did I say that those people had the liquidity to give KSU athletics 150 million dollars??
I was just pointing out some KSU alumni that I know that would qualify as being rich.
Got damn you're a douchebag.
Oh and it takes about $385K to $500K to fully endow an athletic scholarship, so you figure out what $1 million could do . . ya dumbass.

i pointed out with rocket-laser accuracy that ksu has no rich alums dropping major gifts like we see at other universities, and you apparently took umbrage with that.
your estrogen induced meltdown completely ignores the fact that the topic isn't having alumni wiht [thats for you pc!] gobs of money, it's having alumni with loot that do more than endow a scholarship or two.
interesting that a playhouse disney comment sent you off the deep end.

But that wasn't the point of my post about some of KSU's rich alumni dumbass. Really, they aren't dropping big bucks on KSU athletics Captain Obvious??
This from the same Mongoloid that complained about Huggins pictures.
-
does anyone know if we still get money donated from the Woods family (Earl and Tiger) or if any previous players that are in the NFL - if they donate....for example, Newmann?

&@#% you're stupid.
as if mentioning ksu does have wealthy alumni isn't stating the obvious.
oh, and i could care less about the huggins pictures. i complain about the opossum molesting board admins. and it works. just check my sig/handle/etc. i'm going to get them to ban me again sooner or later, and until then, i'm going to enjoy tweaking thier daxiesque nerves.

But my response was too a specific person Mr. inverted penis . . . not to you or the board specifically.
Got Damn . . . you are beyond dumb.

One thing for sure, you prove autistic mongoloids can type.

oh, and board admins: ^&^%&^%
Sorry we hurt your feelings.

How many seats will they take out of the Bram to put in the boxes? Did any of the names listed above buy the suites, or is that just name dropping of a few alums?
Interesting debate going on here! On one hand, you have astute poster, and on the other one, there's Daxi. And imagine that, Daxi getting called out, and he resorts to adolescent name calling.
:billypopcorn:

They are taking out a couple of rows at the top of the student sections I believe. There are already more people that want suites than the amount of suites we will have.

Doesn't look that way. Perhaps you're using the wrong words to convey that message.

Yet there are KSU alums that are possibly capable of contributing large sums of money at some point in time, that was the point. When you own 13.7 million shares of common stock of a company, that's a fairly easily accessed form of liquidity (tax issues aside) Then again, that person and family has contributed well over $10 million dollars to KSU.
The largest donors to ku's new football facility are in the oil business, albeit they have ku athletic ties. Maybe Mr. Hoffmeister can be convinced at some point in the future to contribute a significant sum of money to KSU athletics, or possibly a Shell Major Sponsorship of KSU athletics.
Cargill has a lot of KSU alums working for them . . . maybe at some point in the future KSU can get a significant corporate sponsorship out of them for athletics??
That's how Texas Tech got $25 million to help redo what is now Jones-SBC (AT&T) Stadium from SBC/ATT. . . Edward Whiteacre Chairman of SBC/ATT is a Texas Tech alum. I doubt AT&T is living and dying by the business they have or don't have in Lubbock Texas.
That was another point.

Phillip Anshutz has more money than all of K-State's alumni put together.

Damn . . . at 2:30am, BMW pops a chub because he see's some KSU folks talking about some rich KSU folks on a KSU board and as per usual he can't handle it.
Philip Anschutz got a big boast in life from his daddy's land and oil drilling operations, and his great grand dad's bank, Farmers State Bank in Russell.
Let's also add that Philip Anschutz's politics aren't exactly grounded in tolerance.

Uh-oh... I missed the "c" in his name... You really got me on that one, Dax.

EITHER WAY WE ALL ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF PHILLIP'S OUTSTANDING EARNING POWER. I'M SURE HE LEARNED HOW TO BE A BILLIONAIRE AT ku.
