Title: Don't buy gas on May 15th
Post by: steve dave on May 12, 2007, 02:05:03 AM
Is this the right place to post this garbage?  This could be the dumbest e-mail I have ever gotten 7 times.  What the hell do people think that forward this crap.  Do people not understand economics or capitalism?  The bad thing is I got this steaming pile forwarded to me by people I respect socially.  If you want to lower the price of gasoline quit buying it ever again.  It is like saying, "Don't go to the grocery store on May 15th and we will lower the cost of food and really stick it to Krogers!"  G'D' idiots.

Agreed!

"Damn!  My car's empty.  I won't buy gas today to stick it to the oil companies.  I'll wait til tomorrow."

The same type of email has been circulating for years.  Gas prices have been dropping like a rock because of it, huh? :)

When I get stupid emails like that, I usually give them a link to snopes, proving it wrong.  Like this one:  http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/gasout.asp

Sadly these are the same idiots that are driving energy policy in the US.   :frown:

I drove around aimlessly this morning just so I could go buy gas today.

Hell, then last night I went out and bought gas again (wife's car) and found out gas went up 11 cents during the day.  Really looks like the plan worked....

Nah, I actually had to drive from Salina to Manhattan to Olathe then back to Topeka, so I had to get gas for the old fashioned reason. However, even if I would have purposefully purchased needless gas on May 15th, I would have been less retarded than the idiots who actually thought not buying gas on that day would do a damn thing.

How come those emails never tell people to not drive for a day?

That could actually make a diff.

If someone actually wanted to make a difference you would have to target one company, and just not buy from that company.  Ever.

Start with Citgo... owned by the one and only Hugo Chavez.

Oh God Damnit!  Did anyone see this.  The redneckary of this whole thing is unreal.  Did no one explain supply and demand to these people?  Seriously, are there that many morons in this country?  This is my favorite part:

Maria McClory, 38, drove 10 miles out of her way to buy a diet soda from Pollack's station after seeing local television coverage of the protest.

"I just wanted to support them and thank them for making a statement," said McClory, who drives about 100 miles a day for work in her sport utility vehicle.
