that must have been the myssurprise. I'll take it.

Editing post makes me sad :-[

So we officially have more 3/4 players than anyone in the country.
-
Samuels and V-Dub in his first class. Great job by F-Mart.
-
can i get some stats on samuels?
how many stars? pts? etc...
-
Samuels = Jeff Green
When Greenwalt gets a hold of him he will make him thick. By his senior year he will be gross.
-
I think we can add "Assault" to the board name now.
-
He is active and runs the floor. Plays with reckless abandon. Attacks the rim and finishes well in traffic. Blocks shots and will dunk on you whenever he wants.
-
Octagon of Assault!
-
add fan to the kstate assault bandwagon!
i have to admit i wasn't overly thrilled with a commit from samuels this early as an '08, but he is an outstanding pickup as an '07. very nice.

Why not? Couldn't he develop into a 4star his senior year? Why would he be worse in a year?
-
I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but after reading that article, it seems the only information we have came from Dominique Sutton. I believe Samuels chose KSU, but not completely sold he will be here next season.
-
rivals and scout both list him as a 2007 recruit.
dc assault list him as a 2008 recruit.

Good point. I just noticed all the quotes are from Sutton. I just skimmed through it assuming it was his coach. Kind of strange.

sure, he could develop into a 4 star. but he isn't one now. he is fine as a guy you fall back on after striking out on higher rated targets. if you are offering him in may though, you are pretty much giving up on getting a real star.

didn't notice that till saul pointed it out either. weird. sutton sounds almost hoskins like in his ability to parrot a coach.

I agree. In addition, Samuels is a much better player in the current pool than in next years. Better than say Andre Gilbert. Also, a year under Beasley, Walker and Hoskins will be beneficial to ease the blow from those three going moving on, and having to play Samuels as a true frosh. His value is considerably higher as an 07 recruit.

I can buy that.

It's probably good to snag him before some other assistant with Assault ties has a chance to buddy up with him next season - especially if he blows up.

I think he's a decent pick up for either '08 or '07 as I think he would have probably gotten 4* by the end of next year. Plus, when you look at core players in 3 years - Pullen, Brown, Sutton, Samuels...that's not a bad group, especially after 3 years of playing/practicing together.

Great point. Its nice to see the foundation of a core for post-Beasley/Walker*.
*I'm assuming after next year.

One more thing; this is continuing to show how risky it is to hire "package deal" coaches like Hill. Clearly we will regret it after Beasley is gone.
-
This is also huge in the fact that Beasley is going to feel right at home next season with Sutton and Samuels on the team. Let's hope his friendship with those guys makes him want to play with them for more than one year :hope:
-
what does bp say about samuels? i need validation before i get REAL happy.

Little blurb from the Adidas All-Star camp last summer. Listed under the sub-heading "the forgotten five"
Of all the oversights, this one is the biggest. Blessed with playing with the camp assist leader but cursed with playing with some shot happy guards, Jamar Samuels (2007 6-7 PF from MD) didn’t let any of that get in his way. He appeared as a session statistical leader in four of the six sessions and in 3 of those he appeared in two categories. He averaged over 16 points and 5+ rebounds per game in those sessions. Given the time, he would have easily averaged a double-double.

Nice find

I'll admit, even I was surprised when Sutton said he was going to be here in the fall. I really think we're going to go all the way (and yes, that's partially the purple koolaid talking).
