marginal players like kirk and freeze are not getting early offers.
-
The Liberty coach must have some photos of Prince getting a blowjob from J Edgar Hoover or something. Why Why Why did he offer those 2 so early?!
-
He didn't think we'd been Texas :eyeseeyou:
EDIT:
By been I meant beat... :flush:

The recruiting strategy has shifted a bit this year. The staff knows that this class is extremely important to the future (and their jobs).

I get that. The question is...why didn't they have this same philosophy last year? Every class is important. This isn't basketball, where you can 'pull a Roy' every now and again. Especially in the trenches. Heaven knows we haven't controlled the line of scrimmage consistently since 2003.

We seem to have offerred what appears to be a lot of talented guys...so if that's their strategy this year, I say bravo.

I think last year was different b/c we didn't have quite the relationships with kids to bring them to KSU so we took some more chances and offered a wider swath of players. Plus we probably learned some lessons by offering some kids early that we probably shouldn't have. I think they are also seeing the value of showing interest but waiting on some kids to see how they do their SR seasons, both good and bad. This year I think we're simply being more selective in our offers.

That makes sense. For as much of a plan as Prince was reported to have had coming into this thing, this strategy seemed to lack some focus. At least he appears to be learning from his mistakes. That is encouraging.

At any level when you are trying to rebuild a football team the one thing you need is players, players, and more players, with no connections they went local and went for speed and athleticism, which was probably the one thing that they decided they could improve right away.

"They went for speed and athleticism" . . . um, the two Liberty kids have neither. Their nicknames were "gootub" and "dorktard."

Holy crap, dude. They weren't highly recruited (by any stretch of the imagination), but that doesn't mean that you can treat them like they are subhuman. Loser.

Yes, I am a loser, and I made similar evil remarks about Derek Marso, and before that Andy Eby and John Robertson when we signed them. They all turned into eventual average to better-than-average starters. But at signing, I just could NOT imagine any of them doing more than sitting the bench. Same for Vlad Faustin, but you could understand why they signed him since he is such a cool kid and it was a position of big-time need where everyone else had turned us down. Maybe Kirk & Freeze will work out the same way. Virginia fans said over and over that Prince will always sign some kid that you're sure we'll be a flop, and by his junior year he'll be starting on the OL and doing well. I could see that happening here and hope it does.

I love you, Poopley.

No worries, dude. We're all winners. I just felt like being an ass at the time. :beerchug:
