Title: Tailgating Question
Post by: ksucrcoop on April 30, 2007, 12:24:36 PM
A few of my friends and I are thinking about purchasing an old school bus for tailgating :dancin:.  If any of you who have done the same have any pointers or suggestions I'd appreciate it.  Also things like: How do insure it? Do you need a special permit to drive it? Was it expensive to register?

I thought it was sacrilege for a ku fan to use Billy Walker's name for entertainment purposes.

It's MR. Billy Walker to you.

if I were doing what you are I'd look for an old RV so that you have water tanks (both fresh and holding) for the sink and toilet (which will be nice to have), plus it will have propane for the stove and a furnace which it will likely have.  Most have an air-conditioner but may require 120v, so look for one with a generator.  I'd bet you can find one from the 70's for the same price as a bus and require a heck of a lot less work to have all the amentities.

This is not some simple sarcastic reply....if you're really gonna do this, I would make sure you don't put anything that allows people to climb on the roof.

But if it was an OU fan we would have been laughing the next day...

What part of "not some simple sarcastic reply" did you not understand?  It was a serious comment meant to impart lessons learned.....which apparently aren't always obvious.

Just a KSUFANS "PSA", if you will.

It's still a jackass reply. It's not like it is the worst thing in the world if you have a way to get on top of your BUS/RV.

No. Just don't be on it while the vehicle is moving.  HTH.

Is a KSUFANS "PSA", similar to the headline news that is provided?

Or are the PSA's premium content?

Well not really unless you're okay with senseless death.  If my jackass reply gets somebody to think and that just might save somebody's life....well then I'm alright with that.

hey man, 3 of my friends have busses, 1 of which is for sale now. theirs required no CDL (and is still legal to consume alcohol on while moving :beerchug:), and they just called around to a bunch of insurance companies to get quotes. registration cost will depend on how old the bus is. busses are definetly the way to go for the 'do it yourselfer' because you have a ton of options.  shoot me an e-mail if you want to check out the bus for sale.
