Title: NFL Draft not making sense....
Post by: SkyWalkJUSTforFUN on April 29, 2007, 01:03:51 PM
LOL at the whole Texas secondary getting drafted:

CB- Aaron Ross- 1st Round
CB- Tarrell Brown- 3rd Round
FS- Michael Griffin- 1st Round

3/4 starting Texas DB's getting drafted

and Yamon, who lit up that exact same secondary for 130 yards & 2 TD's and beating the Thorpe award winner for the whole night......

3rd Round. :curse:

Not to mention fastest 40 in the NFL Draft

I swear this thing is rigged!!!!!!!!!!

It usually doesn't make sense.  It would be a more significant year if the draft actually did for once.

Yamon went exactly where he was projected to go. He's not going to play WR in the NFL and return specialists aren't going to go any higher.

wasn't texas' secondary considered a huge weakness for them all last season?  just goes to show how poorly brown develops all that talent.

He's not going to play WR in the NFL

Why not? Skinnier players than him have made it.

texas' secondary got thrown on a ton because no one could run against their front 7, passing numbers against them were inflated.

Miami took Ted Ginn as a return specialist with the 9th overall pick.  He's suppose to be a 3rd option at WR at best.  Clearly a hype pick.

You really don't ever know what you are talking about, do you? Yamon wasn't supposed to get picked up in the third. Almost all projections had him as a second day pick. And some of the "experts" even said that Yamon was more valuable than Devon Hester because he can play more than one position (WR and/or gunner).

Yamon probably barely gets drafted if he hadn't done so well at the combine.

Texas game surely moved him up a round, too.

had Yamon been played his entire career(or atleast 2+ years) like he did at the end of '06 he would have prob been a 2nd rounder.

Texas game he was amazing, and was our only real points in the TX bowl

From what I've heard, Miami has had their eyes on Ginn ever since last fall...so they stuck to their guns and picked him when they had the chance. It's very true that punt returners shouldn't get picked in the 1st/2nd rounds, and even though Ginn does have the ability to contribute as a WR, Cam Cameron tried to sell the pick to the Miami fans by saying that they were going to have an explosive "punt returner" while hardly mentioning him as a WR...wow, if that was cameron's logic drafting him...god help the miami dolphins

While Cameron has not yet mastered the art of the top ten draft pick, he will have the opportunity to practice that skill on an annual basis.  I was struggling with the prospect of cheering for Quinn in Miami, but this outcome was not exactly a favorable alternative.
