Title: My exciting event for a couple days ago...
Post by: KSUBrad on April 27, 2007, 11:15:51 PM
I was helping out my school's (where I work) volleyball team by setting up for a little food sale they had for lunch a couple days ago, and there trying to get into our school was James Franklin. One of my fellow teachers said, "I'll help this guy in since he's wearing K-State," and I told her who he was.  He stopped and talked to me (as I of course said his name and then introduced myself) and some other students around me for a while then went to find our head football coach. I thought it was pretty cool that as he came back he made sure to shake my hand before he left. Very down-to-earth and definitely bigger up-close than I had thought.  I obviously can't divulge which school this was, but I can tell you he was probably hitting a lot of schools in town that could possibly include a couple of Browns and a Harper.

Why can't you say where you work?

school/professional policy

Or it might have something to do with the fact he acted like a 1st grader towards Huggins' daughter and doesn't want people to know who he is... just guessing of course.   :D

Most school's policies are that you not give out information about students and teachers that could be deemed harmful or personal to them (ex. Who's on and IEP, who is under or over achieving, who has been in trouble at the school.)  Seeing as you did not mention any names except for the coaches who are not attatched to the school at all you would break none of your schools policies.  Therefore, it is obvious that you just don't want anyone to know where you work.

"attatched"...really?  No, I could care less if you know who I am or where I work.  Fact is, if I were to say where I work it may cause undue speculation and you would be able to tell who the coaches and students are.  Honestly, I don't need my students to be bothered by some people trying to break into their facebook to see what they say and what they want to do with their life.  I let them make their own decisions.  Therefore, it was my professional policy that you guys really didn't "need" to know.

And about Jacque Huggins, I was over that a long time ago.  Honestly, I didn't think she'd really respond and really neither should she have to my rather juvenile remarks.  I've since apologized and moved on (as I'm sure she has as well).  But thanks for speculating my intentions anyway.

You're concerned about internet harassment?

Nah, not necessarily harassment.  It's more or less the internet stalking you guys do with some recruits.  I know you're trying to match up my comment to Jacque with this, and it's well noted and appreciated.  What I said had nothing to do with her personal decisions (in fact it was anything but her decision as we know).  Deciding on a college for a high schooler is a personal decision, however.

Well look at that, Brad is able to form a complete sentence.  Who knew?!  I guess we'll all have to chock his tirade on little Jacque Huggings up to him being drunk out of his mind.
