what was your happiest moment during the Snyder Era? It could be a specific play or an entire game. Where were you and what were you doing when it happened (drinking at the bar, in you basement, at the game, etc)? Did you hug your buddies? Rush the field? Start buying people drinks?

It's gotta be the 2003 Big XII Championship Game vs. Oklahoma. I watched it at home in stunned silence because I couldn't believe how easy it was. :ksu:
-
Big 12 Championship game vs OU '03, without question. My best moment as a K-State fan, period. Had a watch party at my house, great night.
-
97 Fiesta bowl.
03 was more significant, but that night in Arizona was just amazing. The pep rally, the pregame festivities, being in the nice warm arizona weather in the dead of winter(I remember going swimming outdoors,) the painting of the "A" that overlooks the stadium purple and white, the slaughtering of McNabb and the Syracuse Orangeman, the complete takeover of that stadium (what was it 50k fans or something?) and then an amazing concert by Kansas immediately following the game. (My first concert, and I was front row.)

The NU beating with Crouch getting his head taken off was great! (sleet storm game against NU is the second best Nu game - with 00 Willie...RIP....on top of the press box)
Watching the 2003 Big 12 Champ game at arrowhead was awesome. I had an old lady sitting next to me that was an OU fan. It started out bad...she kept doing that index finger point (#1) in my face until around middle of the second quarter. Then she got quite....gee I wonder why?????
Anyhow, I got so excited - I hit the old lady in the face with my elbow and then she left.....No blood just a pride issue I am sure.
I can't just pick one...there were so many great Snyder era memories.....beating Syracuse at the Fiesta Bowl against D. McNabb comes to mind a lot. And beating USC with Carson Palmer comes to mind too....too many to choice just one...Sorry. :ksu:
-
(1) '03 Big 12 Championship...I was there with about 5 of my friends, surrounded by OU fans who were talking all kinds of trash during the 1st QTR....as those same fans began to walk out of the game after Ted Sims returned that int for a TD, my buddy who was on the aisle seat asked them how Snyder's &*#$ tasted.
(2) '97 Fiesta Bowl...I was there...it was amazing.
(3) The friday before the '98 NU game. I remember walking through campus going to class...there were already many other students driving through campus yelling, honking, drinking...at 9:30am....as I walked out of my class there was a guy who was wearing a red shirt (it wasn't even a NU shirt) and a car load of guys stopped their car and began to yell at him for wearing red and then other students who were walking to class began to as well until the guy started to jog/run away...it was fantastic.

I am going to get off this thread now. I thought this might be painful, and it is. :-[

I thought he died in that game. How did he get up after getting his head turned like that?

No way can the NU win be compared to our 2003 Big XII Championship and beating the best team in the history of college football

1) '03 vs. OU. The most fun I have ever had at a game. Sitting 3 rows from the top in the corner of arrowhead has never been so sweet. Went back to my bro's place after the game...and watched the entire thing over again till 3 am in the morning.
2) The 4th quarter of the '97 Fiesta Bowl till Nov 14th 1998. The hype and optimisn about the coming year all the way to gameday and the NU game.
3) Copper bowl....freakin best bowl game ever. And i was 8.

When I saw it live, I was sure he broke his neck. Okay I'm done now.

Truth. I was a frosh at KSU for the Copper Bowl though.
97 Fiesta Bowl was a lot of fun, by far the best bowl trip I've been on. Copper was significant for the time, but Fiesta was the best overall trip.
Being at NU in 03 was a good time too.

00 NU win. Easy. I wasn't at the '98 game and wasn't able to watch it live; (&@#%ing wedding) But I was at in person from 00-03 Including the Big12 championship, but there was something in the air that night. My wife, sister, & brother in law (who was working the jumbo tron cam ontop of the bram at that time) got there at 7 in the morning. Sat in the cold & off and on snow; Gates open; mad rush to get seats; ended up 5 rows up on the 25 in the student section. Lost my voice by the end of the 3rd. One of the few times you could feel the concussion on your chest of the KSU chant. Watching Willie on top of the box in the snow... rushing the field as the seconds ticked down. Absolutely amazing experience. The 03 Championship was fun too, just to much of a blow out to be exciting. Definately #2 on my list of games to watch in person. But I don't think anything will ever top NU 2000. Ut last year was pretty close, but it wasn't the same not being in the student section.
-
I was at both the 1998 and 2000 Nebraska games. The 2000 game was better because they were a better team.
-
Getting tackled by nebraska's #37 Tony Ortiz (?) after the 1st premature crowd rush in 98. He was so pissed.
-
I wasn't much of a KSU fan back in the glory days, but man being at that Texas game last season was incredible. The unity between the students was unlike any other game I've been to ever. Then seeing thousands of people storm the field was simply incredible. The gate that led onto the field was broken by the bumrush of students. THen I saw one of my friends at the top of the goalposts. Incredible night.
I even remember telling my friend that I'd light myself on fire if we beat Texas. We were both really drunk when I said that so we never followed through.

Why not? Beating NU protected an undefeated record and the #2 AP ranking, with Big Things on the horizon. More importantly, it ended the streak that was much more of a dark cloud than ku @ Bramlage pretends to be today. That win shed the last vestiges of the Mildcats era.
The 2003 win was nice also, but it was more of a nice surprise. There wasn't the same build-up or anticipation. There also wasn't any NC talk before or after; those chances had been dashed by early October, and beating Oklahoma only served as a reminder of what could have been.

I guarantee there were thousands of Kansas State fans in the stands and across the state with tears in their eyes when that game ended the beatings we'd taken at the hands of the huskers. Best win ever. NU in 00 and OU in 03 were about the same but below 98.
-
Like I said; I wish I could have been at the 98 NU game... but I'll admit I had tears in my eyes as My friends and I rushed the field in 00 Nebraska

98' NU game hands down! That was the exclamation point on Snyder's turnaround! It was the best post game night of my college life! My roomate and I had North endzone seats right by the ABC camera guy. Faces and chests painted, seeing the Jeff Kelly (Int or fumble?) touchdown right in front of us, Darnell McDonald's TD catch, and the face mask. Man what a night! Being down on the field and having these PISSED of NU players walk right by us was the funniest thing ever! The only thing that will rival that filling is when we finally kick ku's ass in the Bram.
2003 game is a close 2nd, but that NU game was Snyder's "signature" win. Coach Snyder : :notworthy: :notworthy:
-
I particularly thought the time Brook Berringer played in Manhattan was the best ever. He was a site to behold! Whatever happened to that guy? I thought he had NFL talent, but I never saw him get drafted.

2005 Missouri game.

1a. 1998 NU
1b. 2003 OU
2. 2000 NU
3. 2003 NU
4. 1993 Copper Bowl - Wyoming
5. 1997 Fiesta Bowl - Syracuse
6. 2002 NU
7. 1989 N. Texas (yes, I was there)
8. 1991 ku (and really all ku wins are happy moments)
9. 1993 OU
10. 2000 Cotton Bowl - Tennessee
2005 Missouri was a good game, but not very happy.
2006 Texas would've placed in about 4, 5, or 6 for me.

nu 98 win was a very "nostolgic" win for many.
It was for me. I wept openly. I am a little bitch, what I can tell you.
97 Fiesta was great. We spent a ton of money on those dudes with the three-wheeled bike richshaw things. We talked so much crap to Syracuse fans before that game about how Cuse might be favored, but we'd blow them away. It was great back then when we KNEW we would win.
Copper Bowl was also fun....we streaked City Park. I don't mind telling you that I had a semi...
-

That's not why I put them in there. There is just pure and complete satisfaction in beating their smug arses (S. Parker this only applies to the smug arses, you aren't in that category)....it's always a happy moment.
And really that's what the whole incredible part of the Snyder run was about....the smug arse fans and pundits and members of the football world who just couldn't wrap their brains (it's a difficult task to stretch something so small) around the enormity of the fact that KSU was one of the finest football teams in the nation. The recent slips only reinforce this in their small minds.

Top 5:
5) Tie: USC at Manhattan defeat of Carson Palmer and last year's win over defending champ Texas. Both crazy games in Manhattan, lots of memories of the plays in both games.
4) "The Snow Game" against Nebraska. Just when we were all thinking the good times from the Bishop era were fading away and were going to be dominated by NU again, this game brings back the faith in that magic feeling that Snyder's teams could do anything. When the snow started falling and Beasley kept hitting first down after first down on that last drive you just knew everything was going to be ok. And then he hits Quincy Morgan over the middle for the TD. Total chaos. Beautiful memories of that night.
3) 2000 Cotton Bowl over Tennessee. Went a long way to legitimizing us in alot of peoples eyes. Dominated a good (not great) Tennessee squad for 90% of the game and did it well. Great win and great exorcising of the bad Cotton Bowl memory. We seem to do that alot at KSU don't we?
2) 2003 win over OU. I've sat through alot of KSU dominated games before against crap conference teams (no offense MU, ku, etc) and enjoyed them, but it doesn't compare to the feeling of dominating and humiliating the "best college team of all time" in front of a national audience and finally getting that Stoops Bros monkey off the back. I lost my voice watching that game
1) Beating Nebraska in Manhattan in 1998 for the first time in 30-something years. When the NU kicker who never misses (Brown?) missed that easy FG in the south endzone (me and my mom were the ones who waved him off), I high fived everyone around me because I knew that was it, we were gonna win. Man we all went nuts in Section 15 that night. I swear I saw old ladies bodysurfing.
Honorable mention goes to several games against CU, the one at home where it snowed and Justin Swift had those crazy catches and also the one that sent us to the 1996 Cotton Bowl after Rick Neuheisel sang that song about us. Also gotta throw in 66-0 and the entire Terry Allen era.
