How does this suck?  We trade a big man with zero productivity, bad attitude, and an even worse on-court image for a point guard who is apparently pretty capable?  Everybody wins...except Bob Huggins.   :curse:

Sure, it's a loss, but I'm not going to lose any sleep picturing the blockbuster 8 ppg, 8 rpg, 5 bpg senior year Bennett may have ended up having.

Will you lose any sleep over the fact that we no longer have a center on our roster??

You're right.  There's basically no way a team can succeed without a true center.   :shy:

You can't coach 7'3"

I expected that comment. We aren't better off not having him. He probably wouldn't have contributed much next year but it would have been nice to see how he turned out. As long as we get Tony Woods from the class of '08 then I won't care..

JB leaving is a relief, are you kidding. he's a 7'3" chimney for cryin out loud. my buddy went to a party and this kid is standing in the middle of the apartment with his shirt off. dont ask me why, but i guess that's how JB rolls.

anyone who says he'll have a stellar senior year, we'll see. but the kid's only good for blocks. how can you be 7'3" and have no inside game and pull 0 boards?

tony woods situation doesn't look to hot right now either, i think we fell off his top list on rivals a few weeks ago. all we can do is cross our fingers for maybe Kenny K outta IMG and maybe one other big man.

my thoughts on Bennett leaving: meh

it'd be nice if he'd stick around, but its really no big loss

plus, I'm excited about this Soto guy.  he's the type of point guard we really need.

Bennett isn't a huge loss.  Although he did play well against Texas, and I believe he was a big reason for that win.

Great article by Jeff, all around.

Losing Bennett sucks.

We better strike gold on an '08 bigman (or 2).  Kent and Colon ain't going to cut if/when Beasley leaves.

I think he was only 4'2" while sitting on the bench, including his slouch.

Is this like a sarcastic phog wannabe thread?  Losing him sucks, apparently he was very immatuer(?) but I think he would have developed into a very solid player.  Now we have No point and no forseeable inside prescence.

I think that Bennett is coachable, and by his Junior year he would have been an effective player, but he had his mind made up before he ever even enrolled at K-State that he was already a star and he wouldn’t put in the work or effort to get any better.  Instead he would pout and get pissed off and then worked at his game even less which only got him deeper in the doghouse.  Like I said, if he decided to put in the effort he could be an effective player, but he probably figured that he would have a hard time getting minutes from Colon who IS willing to put in the effort to get better...

This isn't the end of the world by any stretch, but I do wish he would have stuck it out.

I agree with Snart.  He had it in his head that he was better than he really is.  Mix the dissapiontment of not being the star that he thought he'd be with some homesickness and a lack of maturity, and you've got a kid that's not happy.

Too bad.  A couple of years down the road and he would have been a very nice contributor.
