over at rivals. Some great quotes by Bassett. A must read...didn't know he visited ku for their Spring game.
He certainly looks like a TE. The post earlier in the day by Crabby "from people in Lawrence" was good info.

It's nice getting back into Oklahoma, that state was key to KSU success in the '90's. Nice work by Coach Prince.
-
I'll say this for Bassett. He was invited down to a football game at LSU as a junior. I know there will be a lot of walk-on type candidates invited from in-state but he's not in Louisiana so he was definitely on their radar.

How do unofficial visits work? Paid for by the individual? Does the individual get to tour the facilities, meet coaches and staff?
One thing that is going to make this a long time until signing day is the calls and pressure he is going to get from other programs until he signs on the line, ala Lamark Brown.

Sounds like he all but laughed at ku's facilities when he compared them to Vanier, etc.

He has to pay for his travel costs and such on his own but he gets to do everything else he would on an official visit.
As far as us losing him to another school... It seems like he really likes everything about KSU including the campus (which is something that we don't always here so that is pretty cool). I don't think we will be at risk for losing him as long as we have a decent season (as in atleast .500).

man, sounds like there was a huge battle for this kids commit. I would imagine the battle would ahve been much more difficult if he actually had real offers

Hawkinson looks like a gomer compared to Bassett. The squawks can have him.

We beat ku for him! That will at least guarantee us mediocrity.

If you're basing the 'gomer' look on his haircut, well, that's the "pup cut," a McPherson basketball tradition. It's stupid, and ugly as hell, but I bet someone with the right yearbook could dig up a Steve Henson photo that looks a lot like that.

So it sounds like he committed as fast as he could after ku's spring game. Wow it must have sucked.

Hawkinson isn't very good.

Not so much the haircut, as it is the less than chiseled features and empty look in his eyes. Bassett, on the other hand just looks like a stud.

The neck-to-jaw width ratio is astounding.
