The Chiefs fans on this board surely remember the dilemma faced by Carl Peterson and Gunther Cunningham. Do they go with Grbac, the 6’6” strong armed guy who really “looked the part,” or with the smaller, more accurate Gannon who just seemed to get the job done.
Gunther and Carl chose Grbac, and were quoted on dozens of occasions gushing about the physical presence of Grbac. On numerous occasions Grbac really did play well. However, he was wildly inconsistent and prone to poor decisions. He couldn’t play well under pressure.
Meanwhile, Gannon goes on a several year run of being one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL…his play marked by an accurate arm and a great mind.
Not to tough to see the potential for a fairly accurate analogy between the Freeman/Coffman choice and the Grbac/Gannon choice.
Still plenty of time for Josh to improve…but he’ll have some pressure after he throws three INTs and gets sacked 5 times against Auburn. Probably won’t even be his fault, but then the Coffman talk will start
Should be interesting to see how Ron “coaches smart, and not scared” on this one.

OMG, this is going to get old.

You're right sorry. Please disregard.
Josh is obviously taller, and poses well as a good quarterback. Carson is skinny and awkward looking. Nothing to see here...please move along.
-
Carson will be good to put in if Josh tanks it.. At least we won't get blown out in those games, like we did last year.
-
Wow, I'm glad we were all able to jump off the Freeman bandwagon after one spring scrimage after 13 or so practices.... not to mention against a large part of the #1 defense with a bunch of scrubs as teamates. Give me a break.
-
I hope Carson doesn't go to the Raiders

Good point, we should at least wait until he tosses 3+ picks against Auburn.

You're finally making sense.

Well this is a wonderfully inciteful and depressing post. Looks like we get to go through crapty quarterback times all over again. :barf: :drink:

For the sake of accuracy, we probably need two guys closer to the same age. Will Gannon and Bono work? If not, we can always look to other NFL teams for guidance.

I still say Marc Dunn should start.

Cody Lee Smith should get some reps too

flawed analogy because CC hasn't played a big 12 game and Grbac never put the Chiefs on his back and carried them to victory. JF was Big 12 POW in back to back weeks and national player of the week.
I think being down by 10 with 4:30 left against OSU mave been pressure. And then there was UT.
Oh and did I mention that he led his team to a bowl game as a true freshman. I am amazed at the number of people who seem to be ready to throw him under the bus. Prediction, Cats win the North in 2007. :ksu: :woohoo:

We do. It's invite only. You can't see it? Huh, that's odd.
