Title: Northeastern fans on Frank Martin

not much here, but

Great move by Frank, if it's true.

I wish him nothing but success.

No, we won't be going to Manhattan, Kansas - unless there's a HUGE pay check involved. Let's say KSU pays us $50K (I'm making these #'s up), and Providence will pay us $45K - it costs more than $5K to send, house, feed everyone in Manhattan, Kansas, so KSU would have to pay us what a PC would AND have an incremental large enough to cover our travel costs.

I did send Frank an e-mail to congratulate him on the job and my last line was "Think about coming back to the Arena with your team to play us, it would be great to have you back."

Quote
Good for Frank Martin, I'm glad he is finally getting his shot, and with a pretty talented team I might add.
Glad Frank hopped of the Hugs bandwagon before it ends up off the road again .... great timing.
If Frank can keep the current talent and continue to recruit as he has in the past the KSt team should remain very competitive and give Frank Martin a chance to continue his climb up the D! coaching ladder.

There were more than a few nights when it appeared that Frank was coaching the Huskies.

Frank is very good at in game coaching, I think we all know that.

The one area I'm not sure how he'll do - because I never really saw any of it - was game day prep - i.e. getting a team ready to play a game, scouting, practice, things like that.

Quote
What Whitlock hasn't researched is that the folks in the State of Florida who investigated Frank's alleged transgressions found no wrongdoing with what Frank did.

Now, is he being judged by the company he keeps, yes. Is he qualified to coach a team in the Big 12? Who knows.

We all know what KSU did was done only to keep the recruits there - and Frank's the beneficiary. Give him a shot - he probably has a couple of seasons to prove himself.

Suffice to say, we'll see what Frank does, and if he succeeds, I'll make sure Whitlock's well aware of it.

Quote
- Frank Martin - Not only can he recruit, he has a TON of ties to recruits and other coaches

I just hope they don't offer him a head coaching job.  Maybe he still senses some loyalty.

Didn't Huggins say that Frank did all of it? Or was it Dalonte? Either way it seems like we got the guy that did all of the game day prep because Huggins said he didn't do it himself and then a guy that "is very good at in game coaching." I'm not too worried about next year.

I think dalonte did a lot of the game day prep work.

Anyone have the LaTech fan thoughts when we hired Wooly?  Those were prophetic.  :)

great find.

with re. to martin/huggins.  pretty much all coaches know bball.  it isn't rocket science and these guys more or less live bball all year.  the diff. will be in commanding the player's respect and in garnering attention to the team.  espn won't be chasing martin like they did huggins and it is still an open question if martin will be able to get the player's attention like huggins could.

You don't understand.  Martin doesn't have the experience nor the innovative offense to succeed.  Nevermind his "connections" (recruiting and talent is overrated anyways).

Care to enlighten me on the Huggins "innovative offense"?

Here... buy the tape and "enlighten" yourself.  There is probably a flex offense video on Amazon too.   http://www.amazon.com/Motion-Offense-Principles-Five-Man-Coaching/dp/1585183334/ref=sr_1_6/103-3143835-7585421?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177333987&sr=1-6 (http://www.amazon.com/Motion-Offense-Principles-Five-Man-Coaching/dp/1585183334/ref=sr_1_6/103-3143835-7585421?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177333987&sr=1-6)
