Damn ku is (a)pathetic concerning the support they show for their football team.
Yeah yeah...here comes the "scoreboard" crap....but that does nothing to change the fact that their fans don't, and never will, care about supporting their team. Frankly, I'd be ashamed if a KSU recruit was brought to town, only to look up in the stands too see only about 8K bother to make it...., particularly, if the SID did a whole bunch of promoting for the event..and they STILL didn't show.
I'm guessing Kstate gets around 20K this Saturday...the weather looks like it is going to cooperate so far with the rain hitting mid-week and moving on before the weekend.
Damn its' great to be a Kstate fan!

8,200 is an improvement for ku. If anything, support for ku football is growing.
-
Yeah, BMW.. I see it the same way..
Like an ICU patient being upgraded from grave to critical.
-
8200 is a crap ton considering they havent finished above .500 in conference ever
-
We will have "less than" 10K "plus" before 2pm??
...what does that mean?
-
this thread . . . WTF?
-
remember, the greater or less than sign always eats the bigger number.
just like mangino... :koolaid:
We'll have >10K
-
We'll show them. Rah, rah, rah.
-

LMAO... Perfect analogy for ku football. At least we've got football facilities on the way. It's about friggin' time.

No, more like Vanier Football Complex, but better.
-
I've seen the plans, it looks like another football complex to me. Of course BMW will retort with the Reesing comments about KSU, and all I have to say is that the inside of Vanier is night and day different now then it was when Reesing was being recruited.

ku Athletics didn't do a damn thing to market the spring game. I doubt even 1/4 of Lawrence knew it was on Sunday. Lew Perkins needs to get off his ass and get things moving next year, while I'll take 8,200 as an improvement (all things considered) we can definitely do better. Mangino treats the game as an annoyance and refuses to market it, so the responsibility to get the word out falls on Lew and co. Maybe if Mangino can surprise me and get 8-9 wins this year, we'll have a decent showing next year.
Oh, and SCOREBOARD!!!!1!!1!!1!!11!!!1one!!39-20!!1! :twobirds:

32,000 at the spring game. Holy crap.

8200 vs. 32,000
and we're the hicks in the middle of nowhere remember? :jerkoff:
Guess there must be too much women's tennis and frisbee golf action in Lawrence for the Spring game.

That's right . About 5000 last year...and 8000 this year.
Wow. Remarkable.

Congrats on your outstanding attendance for a glorified football practice. Now, if only you could consistently put 13,500 in your basketball arena...
-
fat chance of that with hugs gone.

But the money was in the bank, the people just didn't show up for all the games, big difference there.
This is classic squawk logic at work. Oh, well we're not a football school, so it's perfectly understandable why we don't have many at the spring game, and why we have the cheapest season tickets in the Big 12 and still rarely sell out.
But KSU is suppossed to stuff Bramlage the very first year under a new basketball coach, even though again, nearly 13,000 season tickets were sold.
Average attendance at ku . . . that HUGE basketball school for Larry Brown's first season on the job: 11,587 . . . over 4,000 under capacity. Larry Brown's 2nd season on the job: 13,301 . . . over 2500 under capacity (remember now ku is a HUGE basketball school, just rabid fans over there). In Larry Brown's 3rd season at ku (now keep in mind, ku has fielded 3 straight NCAA tourney teams under Brown, and had been to the NCAA tourny 4 times in 6 years, no 17 years of bad basketball here) ku averaged: 14,202 per game . . . 1600 under capacity. Now get this, over this timeframe, ku had gone 45-2 at home. That's FORTY FIVE and F'ING TWO . . . and the place STILL wasn't sold out and stuffed to the rafters until FOUR years into Brown's tenure.
-
ku's best football season since 1969.....the 1996 season...ku didn't sell out a single home game. That team was ranked in the Top 10.
-
Well they did pretty much sell out one game, the biggest football game on the ku campus in nearly 3 decades. The only problem was; 20,000 were wearing Cornhole red.
-
I still remember 41-7. Damn that was sweet.
-
8200 was definately Sqwauk counting, dont know if anyone saw "highlights" from thier spring game, but there was maybe 5000 in the stands.
-
Those highlights were probably shot after the second half started...a LOT of people left at halftime :frown:
-
Those highlights were probably shot after the second half started...everyone left at halftime :banghead:
Still doesn't hold a candle to what we'll have this weekend.

Don't get too excited. We won't have many more than 20k.

1/4 of lawrence knew when your spring game was, yet everyone on this board new when it was... even without the advirtising. :billypopcorn:

CJOnlines article about the game said 8200 was "very generous".

Even if we get 20k that's a mark that stacks up against much bigger schools in more urban areas and is unusual for schools the size of Kansas State.
-
Im guessing 15k. Maybe less.

I believe you mean the 1995 season. That was the last year of the Big 8. Since the Big 12 was formed in 1996, ku has not finished .500 or better in the conference.
