What will he have to do prove himself next year??
How Many games do you think he will have to win??
I think we at least have to finish in the top 3 in the big 12 for him to prove himself as a coach

With the GRCOAT coming in anything less than a conference championship will be a huge failure.

We will win the whole thing next year and not lose a single game. I predict 0 turnovers by Clent "Rainman" Stewart on the entire season and he and KatKid's girlfriend will be married in All Faith's Chapel on Thanksgiving day 2007.

I'd say top 4 finish, at least a win in the tourney. If we are not markedly better than last year, this season will be a complete waste.

WHAT? You will have two of the best players in the country (Walker and Beasley) and a coach that won 100 (100!) games at the high school level. Top 4 finish? Maybe in a list of the all-time greatest basketball teams, right behind Dream Team version 1 and Dream Team version 2.

I wouldn't expect his expectations to be any higher then they would be if "fat ass" was still our coach. If I were Frank Martin I'd just want to keep the train movin' forward (as he said in his introductory presser).

Our 2 best players will still be very young...that being said, I expect a 1-4 finish in the conference, and 1-3 wins in the NCAA's.

That's a wide range you've got there. I would expect no less then what we had this past season meaning 20 wins, 10 conference wins, a Top Four finish in the Big XII and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. If we can get a win in the tournament that would be great but I'd be happy just getting there.

Top three in conference with a run to the sweet sixteen.

If we could somehow get the "Mad Israeli Bomber, Gal Mekel" to transfer here, I believe we could take Dream Team II.

Well, in all fairness, it is hard to predict the NCAA tourney right before the NCAA tourney, let alone a year ahead of time. I expect we will challenge for the Big 12 Title, be somewhat similar to UT this year, except make a run in the NCAA tourney that could be from one win, to the final 8. That would include 20+ wins, 10+ conference wins. I think just being happy with getting to the NCAA's is too low of an expectation...although we have had several years to lower our expectations. Oh State and UT both showed us what is possible with good frosh...it is just a matter of how the components fit together, and how quickly...plus the coaching wildcard.

Something else to consider is UT and tOSU had ONE star freshman each, and several very good freshman each. With Walker and Beasely we will have two star freshmen, one very good freshman(Sutton) and two good freshman. Interesting to see how far we can go. Talentwise, there's no reason we can't get hot in the tourney and make an elite eight run. But talent doesn't always equate to success at the dance.

ut signed 7 guys, every one of which was in the rivals 150. they had 1 superstar frosh, 2 stars, and the other 4 were all more highly rated than brown/pullen. they also had abrams, who is an amazing shooter, coming back

True, but the entire team was freshman, with two sophomores, and two upperclassman. Abrams/Augustine accounted for the majority of the teams pts, outside of Durants. What I'm saying is, when you are able to focus on a small group of players, it creates an opportunity to overcome a big game by the superstar. (we shut down Abrams/Augustine, and let Durant go off.) But who do you focus on between Walker/Beasely? And as far as them returning Abrams, Mr. Hoskins ain't exactly chopped liver, and he'll be a senior. The blend of young talent, and experienced players should defiantely aid us, and hopefully we won't flame out quite as early as TX.
