"We broke up a fight and threw the guys out of the bar. We thought it was over," Martin said.

"Then when the bar closed at 3 a.m., we cleaned up and walked outside. A car came racing over. We were smart enough to know what was getting ready to happen. We dove and shots were fired. Luckily for me and the other two bouncers, everybody was all right."

I'm pretty sure Martin is the biggest badass we've ever had coaching our basketball program.  Can ANYONE else say they've ever been shot at in a driveby?

"They just drove away. It goes with the territory," he said. "Like being the head coach at Kansas State deals with [news conferences], being a bouncer, you've got to deal with that."

Right after Frank got up he spewed these poetic rhymes...

'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some punk that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh  - Frank Murda Martin

Anyone that was in the room with Walker when Huggy announced he was leaving.

it aint that exclusive of a club, sadly.  and i've lived in kansas for the majority of my life.

now if he had popped the guy in self defense.....

....and had a permit to carry concealed in kansas.....

....and there was a noticable bulge under his sportcoat on the bench during games.....

I once saw a homeless man fight a pack of rabid, stray dogs for a special sauce-soaked middle bun of a Big Mac. The hobo ripped out their throats with his bare hands and then drank their blood. It was totally badass. KSU should hire him as the next basketball coach after Martin crashes and burns. I'm sure the blood-thirsty hobo is just as qualified as Martin and most likely has a cleaner record.

That depends, does this particular hobo have any ties to 5-star recruits.  We won't take just any hobo...they have to be well connected.  If he doesn't come with anyone special, don't bother sending him our way.  You can keep him down there at WSU.  I heard a spot just opened up on your bench after all.....

Besides, he might be able to teach the shocks a thing or two about not pussing out when things get tough....where you been, by the way?

And to think I thought we were going to get our money's worth out of Ron Prince via the "fun to watch" factor if for no other reason.  Frank just beats him all to hell in that department.

I haven't experienced a drive-by shooting, yet. But I have only lived in South Florida two years. I live in Broward County, which is a lot quieter than Miami-Dade. The city of Miami is unto itself. It's a different place - good and bad. Just because you live in Miami, doesn't mean you will ever experience a drive-by or related crime. But, if you live in Miami and do experience such a thing, and can live to joke about it, then being a badass is like waking up every morning and taking a breath. It just is.
Unfortunately, we don't know if this makes for a good head coach or game planner.
On the other hand, referee's might just start wearing protective gear to K-State games.

You really think I've been gone because "things got tough"? Yeah, your NIT loss to Depaul and the Huggins debacle have been real hard on me.

I may be wrong because I only tend to peruse the basketball board, but it sure did seem like your post count fell off for a while there?  I guess I was just concerned about your well being...it would be a shame to lose the best troll on this board (I sincerely mean that as a compliment).

This board was pretty boring for awhile. Thankfully Huggins fixed that.

Not "thankfully" from my perspective, but I agree things were a little slow.  I can only get so excited talking about players who are still a year or two away from putting on a K-State jersey....let alone deciding where the may or may not play.
