He's right, having 6 scholarship players (2 seniors) is perfect for KSU.

His reasoning is flawed...or at least incomplete.  Weiser and Wefald don't want to watch the basketball program self-destruct mere days after Huggins' departure.  Martin/Hill will both go to WVU unless at least one of them gets a head coaching position somewhere.  Since they obviously have an asston of leverage at K-State with the ridiculous recruits they're attached to, they're taking advantage of that.  It doesn't mean that Weiser and Wefald think they're the most honest, trustworthy people on the planet.  It means that they don't want to see Michael Beasley lacing up his shoes on somebody else's court next year.

Also, how is it that he doesn't feel a modicum of pity for the two Ws?  Sure, Huggs has always been a guy of questionable character, but it's never been about loyalty.  W/W were probably prepared to deal with ill-behaved players, recruits with "troubled" pasts, and maybe a little public drunkenness from the big guy, but I don't think they had a reason to believe that he would leave sooooo many people high and dry.

BTW, Nike has to love Huggs.  5 years of unknowns at KSU hoops lie before them.  Something tells me that they won't do much for Ego at WVU.

I actually agree with Whitlock on this.  It's over we need to stop trying to hold onto something that's gone.   Hire a good qualified coach and have him do his best to keep the guys he can.  Maybe he can convice a kid like Pullen or Fred Brown or a couple of the guys to stay.  Bill Walker is pretty well stuck in Manhattan so you got him Hoskins and Clent Stewart in place as a foundation for next season.

It makes no sense to get burned like we did by a guy like Huggins and then turn the program over to his cronies just to keep a couple of recruits.  If we're going to hire an assistant I'd take Steve Henson a guy with better experience and obvious KSU ties over Frank Martin. My preferance would be a proven mid major coach but Henson would be on my short list.  Maybe try and keep Hill around if he's willing to work for a new coach but I don't bend over backwards or anything to do it.  I'd let Frank Martin follow Huggins to WVU on the next plane out of town.  If he got the job he'd either run things into the ground or have a little bit of success and bolt for the East Coast.

If Weiser was smart, he would stay the hell away from Dalonte and Martin.

Scum breeds scum......

I think this is a real kick to the nads by Whitlock.  Like others have said, Bob Huggins wasn't Lon Kruger or Larry Brown, he may have had other issues, but until yesterday, loyalty had never been an issue in his over 20 years of being a head coach.  I think KSU should try to keep Martin and Hill as assistants, but I don't think they should be the head coach.

I don't think you could get Frank to work for anyone but Huggs.

Whether you agree with him or not J.W. makes you think. I'm not sure I want anyone associated with Huggins but I'm not sure I don't either. The stakes are just too high.

What part of 0-16 don't people understand?  If we lose our current recruits, that's what we're gonna get next year, and that's not good for any program.

Well Martin is/was a high school coach.  The he coached at Norheastern a low major school for 4 years.  Then went to cincy and  coached one year under Huggins and one under Kennedy then he came to KSU with Huggins for one season.  So he has coached on one NCAA tournament team in his career his one season under Huggins at Cincy.  Henson coached on a sweet 16 team this past year at UNLV and helped Kruger bring that UNLV program up from the toilet, he also coached on multitple NCAA tourney teams at Illinois.  In between he coached and scouted in the NBA and also played in the NBA for 6 years not to mention was all big 8 at KSU and started on 4 straight NCAA tournament teams.  Experience isn't even close between Martin and Henson and I'm not running down Martin it's just a fact.

I'm for Henson over Martin. Sorry, that's the case. He's a KSU homer and has a lot more experience. Martin would probably do OK, but I think Henson is a better fit for K-State.

I don't know apparently good enough players to make a sweet 16 which is better then any of Frank Martin's recruits have ever done.

I thought I was the king of conspiracy theories... WOW, that is pretty creative writing. I detest that fat bastard, he can "hug" a nut (pardon the pun) - with Wefald and Weiser's decisions in the realm of athletics... I just cant buy that crap he's selling.
