Post by: waks on April 06, 2007, 02:48:01 AM
in response to the question of "is your departure official."

I think you're lying. I doubt our administration would take him back.

He has caused me too much pain.  My soul is forever broken.  How could you do this to us, Huggins?

I would take a 0.0 gpa semester if it meant his immediate death*

Pretty much everyone would - including Wefald and Weiser.  We'd say, "everyone makes mistakes, it was an emotional time for Huggins, etc.," and then forget about the whole thing.

If he were to ask to come back now, I think I might take him back until that recruiting class has actually enrolled, and then can his ass and send him back to West Virginia with his $100K buyout clause in his pocket.  In the meantime, I'd be clandestinely (sp?) searching for a new head coach.

I know now where his heart is, and it is not at KSU.  I have been careful not to be one of the KSU faithful that has been bragging up our future because I have had this bad feeling about all of this for awhile now.

I have a little different perspective on the whole thing.  I don't begrudge Bob Huggins for going home.  And to those that say it wasn't the right time, well, that's a hard pill to swallow.  I took a position about 18 months ago, and if someone were to offer to buy out my contract so I could come back home, I'd be back in Kansas faster than Huggy was in leaving Manhattan.  Do the people here know that?  Probably not, because it's the business world.  It's dog-eat-dog and if I told them that... if I was honest about it... they would find a way to screw me seven ways to Sunday.  So, if and when that time comes for me to leave, it will be sudden, and it will be without warning.  Wefald and Weiser said it - if there had been any discussion about "if the WVA job opens...." then they would have looked elsewhere for a coach.

But there is a difference between my situation and Hugs'... the people in Manhattan embraced him and brought him into their hearts and homes... the people here are not like that.  I think Hugs was really distressed and torn about leaving, and admitted that this really wasn't the right thing to do.  I would have none of those misgivings.
