So dominate for so long. Just gone.

Like Keyserr F'n Soze....Poof...
"And like that... he's gone. "

I don't know if we'll see an 11 year bowl streak again, but I think we will be competitive in years to come.

Insane. We were so good. I mean for a 10-12 year period we were easily a top-10 program. in FOOTBALL.

I hear ya, Fatty...but there have been a few factors that have played into this.
It seems obvious now that Snyder seemed to have lost something the last couple of years. Maybe it was assistants, maybe it was the drive, maybe it was the ability to stay on top of the latest recruiting technology. Whatever it was, it was good that he left when and the way he did. It gave us our best opportunity to not lose too much momentum.
Now, the $64,000,000 question is whether we lost that momentum with the Prince hire. No doubt that we got burned on Patterson and Leavitt, but if Weiser and Wefald and Snyder really saw what we've heard they saw in Prince, then it'll pay off. It's a huge gamble they took, but, for some reason, I feel better about it after the Huggins hire, as that showed some level of competence.

This is probably a good thing.
The Huggins hire takes spotlight off of Prince.

It is clear so far that he has been a great hire. I only hope thats his assistants were. If they know as much about football as they seem to be energized, it should be a great staff. I hope they do well, but deep down I question how much these guys know about football. I think its safe to say that basketball will remain in the spotlight now, untill the football team gives something to talk about.
As for me, I have been a K-State football fan first and foremost my entire life. Having a good basketball program will be awesome, but if I had to choose- I'd take football any day of the week. I just hope they live up to my expectations. (which happen to be nothing short of a national title) :)

well you can blame snyder for part of it but if nebraska fans can go through a downturn, than so can we.
i think going back to a bowl game this season will be really big. no reason we shouldn't either.
and i know fatty you are down on the early returns for 2007 recruiting but seriously these are players that haven't played their senior year yet so i dont know how any star ratings could be trusted. and also the fact no one else has offered isn't a big deal either, i mean it is still very early. all this early recruiting is totally new for us. and these are just kansas kids...i'll wait to see how we do nationally and throughout the season before i make any rash judgements.
football at kstate will still be very relevant going forward.

I watched film of the 2 kids from Liberty. While they didn't blow me away, they were Juniors, and I saw plenty of upside to them both. The Big DL moves very well, so does the OL kid. They've got physical attributes that can't be taught.
Everything I've heard about Lamark Brown (??) tells me he's an absolute stud.
The only commit so far that I've heard questioned is the kid from Marysville.
KSU is in on some real studs as well, including the Keck kid out of Harrisonville.
You've got to understand something about Prince. A very good friend of mine who sells S&C equipment attends all the KSHSAA meetings. He had a chance to talk to Prince who was there to speak prior to one of those meetings. Prince told him he doesn't want the big buldozer type lineman, he wants tall "linear" guys who can move. He said Prince told him that you just can't go out and smash mouth teams like OU and Texas because their athletes are to big, to fast and to strong.
