Legion is a very limited player, but he shoots with range and he has the size to shoot over players. There is always a need for that and it translates to the next level.

Shorter Cartier?  Looked athletic in the ABCD videos.

This will be one extremely young, but ridiculously athletic team.  But I definitely would rather have Legion and Brown who would both contribute, than Yearby and Kent.  Hopefully we still get Evans.

We'll be deep too:

Anthony Brown ______Impact players_____
Colon
Young (if 100%)
Pullen
Fred Brown _________Solid Reserves_____

From the vids and his measurables, I would say he's more like richer man's Lance Harris.

This is going to make the next couple of weeks interesting.  I would expect to start hearing official word on defections within the next week.  Signing day is just around the corner.

"Legion strongest asset is his mid-range pull up jumper. He is also a good three-point shooter off the catch and pretty good skills with the ball as a handler and passer. Doesn't attack the basket that often and tends to play too upright. Would like to see Legion play with more aggression and passion, especially defensively and on the boards." — 5/1/2006

Kinda sounds like Harris here too...

Don't we still have one more open scholarship? And then if Yearby leaves (likely) or Kent (probably not likely) we would have additional ones. Also, Stew needs to get his grades up so we can put him on academic and have another open scholarship.

after stew gets his grades high enough for an academic, he needs to get his assists high enough to match his gpa.

I thought an academic still counted towards the schollie count.  Did something change?  I mean, otherwise couldn't everyone just give out tons of academics, and have like thirty guys on scholarship?

/you have to have high enough grades to qualify.  a new rule allows athletes that would normally qualify for an academic scholly get one, in the previous years you had to get a sports one.  This opens basketball schollys.

A 3.2 is required and you must be an upperclassmen. It is a new rule that has been put in place starting next season in any collegiate sport, not just basketball.

Was thinking if we only have one more scholly, pick up Legion, since next year we have a lot of good big guys looking at us.  Best players available.  We are have a chance at Woods, Gibson, Kadji, and Gates.  All black BTW.

Great point...We'll be much improved inside anyway.  Anthony Brown doesn't play defense anyway...give me another shooter/scorer over a juco big that doesn't play defense and will try to squeeze minutes around a Hoskins, Beasley, Walker frontcourt.

Looking at this negatively:

Why does everyone think Legion would want to come. The last thing we needs is another 2/3, so why would he want to go some where where he is going to be buried on the bench. The same applies vice versa, I know Legion is top 50, and you really cant turn that down, but I dont think a another wing is a priority right now.

Sorry, misread your post.  But doesn't matter, it's not about whether or not Legion wants to come.  It's about if we really want him.

BTW, I've done a little more research on Gates, and it seems like he has pretty damn good all around skills, with a decent inside/outside game.  Plus Huggins can toughen him up.

I agree that he doesn't seem to go all out on 'D', but is it too much to expect that Huggins (and Staff) will be able to get this guy to put forth a little more effort on defense?  He seems to be up to the task athletically.  I guess I'd just rather have a big who can score (Brown) and try to teach him defense (effort) over a big who can defend (Neck - supposedly) and try to teach him to score.

I probably would, too...but that's not what I'm comparing.  I'm comparing Brown to a Top 30 prospect in Legion.  Give me Legion over Brown.

I wish Juco vids were readily available.

This is why we should get Legion:

http://kansasstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=41909&Sport=2

http://kansasstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=51068&Sport=2

We have a great shot at any one of them, and it wouldn't be a stretch if two of them come.  A lot of people missed his post, but Chico says we're sitting well with Tony Woods.

Oh, I agree completely.  I'd take Legion over Brown in a second.  I've just seen a lot of comments, from a lot of us, about Brown's defense.  I just don't see his lack of defense as that much of an issue.  This particular coaching staff might be the best fit for him.  Regardless, get the best player available, Legion or otherwise.
