Was watching the KSU-ku game in the Big 12 tournament this year with my girlfriend. She's from Texas and while she likes sports she doesn't really watch too much college basketball. She didn't have any idea who Self was and knew nothing of the claims of him wearing a toupee. At some point during the game they show a closeup, straight on shot of Self. She immediately comments on the toupee he is wearing. Never figured out why ku fans have such trouble admitting this.

It's a very important distinction.  Wig:  embarrassing.  Plugs:  not embarrassing.
