stewart does all the intangible things.

that said, as much as clent's "play" really grinds my gears, i seriously question any ranking that puts afelonett ahead of him.

So what was Durant's PER?

It's on a per possession basis.

Afellonnett scored more per possession and did things like block shots and get rebounds (at least at a higher rate than Clent.)  It would be more fair to rank by position, even though the formula tries to account for all that.

Whoops...cut off Hoskins.

Rusty-  Your thoughts on Hoskins re: one trick pony status as slasher/mis-match/and-1/free throw dependent/lack of consistent jump shot guy.  Those are the criticisms.  Are they deserved, to what extent, can/will he improve, will he be a number 2/3 scoring threat next year?

The PERs seem skewed toward the frontcourt players.  The highest scoring guard was Chris Lofton at #21.  And Acie Law IV was #66!  Kansas top scoring player was Darrell Arthur?

I think he will improve.  If he can manage to be a 30% 3 PT shooter that would help a ton.  Plus, he will get better match-ups b/c people will have to guard Walker and Beasley.  We should have more ability to spread and let Hoskins take a 3 guarding him to the basket as opposed to having to attack a 4 or 5 all the time like this year.  Hoskins should be at least 3rd on the team in scoring next year unless we get a phenominal shooting guard.

Actually Bennett is the most suprising to me...but Clent's place is also a suprise.

You think Hoskins on a 3 is a better matchup for him?  I would tend to think the opposite.  To me, his game is predicated on taking bigger, slower guys off the blocks and beating them to the bucket for a layup/foul.  Maybe he could post-up the 3. . .  Do I have this wrong?

You can sort by position on one of those links.  It's definitely frontcourt heavy....maybe frontcourt players are just more valuable?

I was thinking of posting up a 3.  No way most 3s could bang with Hoskins.  Clear out and let Hoskins set up on the low block.  We had this in our offense this year and used it a ton, it will be more advantagous next year with Hoskins against a 3 especially if BeasleyWalker prove to be able to knock down some treys.  He won't have as many drive opportunities, but should still get plenty in the paint, Huggs offense certainly allows for it.

FWIW, Clent was a much better player as the year went along.  Before Big 12 play he was very pedistrian as he was recovering and figuring out Huggins, but in Big 12 play he had solid numbers.  He was never an all world player nor will he ever be, but IMO his really subpar numbers from before Big 12 play affects the overall picture of what he can do.  I think he can be a 10 PPG scorer with around 3 APG.

One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of "3's" in the B12 today are really "2's".

i was being facetious about the intangibles, that's the arguement i get from stewie fans whenever i gripe about his play.

but i'm dead serious in questioning any ranking that puts afelonett ahead of him.  he doesn't suck that hard.

It doesn't take into account how many times people blow past Benneck.
