I have a kuer that is going off on Huggy for saying "how can I win with these kind of players" after a loss. Did he even ever say anything like that? The closest thing I can think of is the Texas Tech post game rant that was justified, but I still don't remember anything like that.

HA HA. yeah, that's Huggs. In the past when the Cincy media would ask how whatever big name Frosh. was doing in early season practices, Huggs would say 'He's lost"

There was one time several years ago that his players weren’t putting out the effort he thought they should so he locked them out of their posh locker room, didn’t allow them to wear their practice uniforms, and made them dress in the women’s locker room! And he said “if these guys don’t want to play like they want to win then I’m not going to treat their sorry a$$es like winners”. Huggins can be pretty entertaining.
As far as that quote, I don’t think he ever said those exact words, but early in the season he did make some less targeted comments to that nature...

No he never said that. He did comment on their lack of talent many times but he always said they could win but that they had a small margin for error or something to that affect. He never said he couldn't win but he was always realisit about what they had to do to win.

I had heard that Huggins did that, only when I heard the story, he basically kicked them out of the locker room and told them that the "locker room was reserved for champions" and they didn't deserve it so he made them change elsewhere (women's locker room) including before games until they put forth the effort. Also during that time didn't allow them to wear anything that said "Cincinati" or "Bearcat" on it.

And I think it was the girls lockeroom in the fieldhouse he made them go to. I think that was the 17-12 year

Players lose privileges after tough losses

In the span of one week, things have gone from bad to downright ugly for the University of Cincinnati.
On the heels of back-to-back, embarrassing performances in losses to DePaul last Wednesday and Marquette on Saturday, Bearcats coach Bob Huggins has evicted his players from their posh locker room at the Shoemaker Center and won't allow them to wear the flashy team-issued Nike gear they normally sport in practice.
Instead, the Bearcats will dress in a locker room in the basement of the arena and practice in their own shorts and shirts.
"It's a locker room for champions and guys that play hard," Huggins said on Monday. "We've built a program on guys playing hard, and guys not running down the floor or even attempting to rebound the ball don't deserve the same kind of treatment."
Cincinnati (13-5, 6-2 Conference USA) was manhandled on the interior by both the Blue Demons and Golden Eagles last week, being out-rebounded by a total of 74-51 and outscored, 56-24, in the paint.
The 82-76 loss to Marquette, which dropped the Bearcats into third place in Conference USA's American Division behind leader Louisville (16-1, 6-0) and Marquette (15-3, 7-1), was the last straw for Huggins.
He yanked four of his five starters out of the game just two minutes in and kept them on the bench for three more despite the fact the Golden Eagles had jumped out to a 10-3 lead. The message didn't appear to hit home, though, as Marquette continued to beat Cincinnati down the floor, win battles for loose balls and dominate the backboards.
Afterward, he questioned his team's desire.
"You get screened, you don't settle for being screened. You fight through screens," Huggins said. "That's got nothing to do with your ability to make shots or run or jump or dribble or anything like that. You can't block your guy out? I mean, how hard of a concept is that, to block your man out?"
Sophomore Jason Maxiell, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward who was considered one of the top returning players in the league, missed all four shots he took against Marquette and finished with just three points and three rebounds.
Maxiell, too, took issue with the team's lack of passion.
"It's heart," he said. "They say we're young and not very skilled, but 'Huggs' has had players like that before and they had heart."

Yeah, I remember that. Everyone was like, "Dumb quote. How will NBA scouts get him players?!?!? Huggs had no idea what he was talking about."

Huggins is a master in the use of psychology, and he says a lot of those things to fire up his players and put them in a mindset of “I’ll show you”. And it worked. Look at how much these guys improved over the course of the season. And early in the season when Huggins said all those things the players probably hated his guts and waned to punch him in the face. I’ll bet if you asked them today what they thought of Huggins they would say that they love him and that they needed that kind of abuse for them to want to succeed and grow and win...

Just imagine if you will, after a poor performance, Huggs sends the players to practice in Weber Arena. Now that would be a really crapty practice.

Huggins may have said how bad his players were all year, but for me personally I felt it pushed those players farther than they could have ever dreamed. Which would have been shown if we weren't the only team since the start of big 12 play to win 20 games, 10 conference wins, and 4th in the conference, and be left out of the NCAA tournament. Huggins is a great motivator is basically what I'm saying.
