kaboom!
« on: January 24, 2010, 10:31:51 PM »
OK, I see what you're getting at now.  Thanks for clarifying.

Yes, more than likely, the next service will be much better than I can give considering that I can't afford a much more expensive setup.  This system wasn't designed to prevent a denial of service attack by the Chinese.   I would like the site to stay up in those circumstances, but I did what I could with what I had and spent several hours each day during the bombardment to try and thwart their efforts.   I've tried to raise money to help in getting a better set up, but the fan base here would rather someone else take the financial risk while enjoying the fruits of someone else's work, even if it means being constantly abused.

If your experience with the site was lousy, I apologize, but it would be helpful to the next group if you would be a good citizen and let them know of your concerns in private and not bring it into the open in such a way that you bring bad light into the operation in general.   Even if they have issues, it's not like they don't care.  The first priority is to keep the site up as much as possible.  I'm in no way the worlds greatest web master or hosting service, never meant to be, but I tried to give all that I could with what I had to work with.   No, it was not the best configuration, but then again, I never expected the site to grow as fast as it did, and i made no contingency for getting a better setup and what I did try, didn't work as well.  I recognize when I fail at things and only seek to try and do better.

The only thing left is the fact that ku person will be managing the hosting.  I don't know what that means in terms of how the site will operate in the general scheme of things.  I have tried to keep an open forum with restrained moderation but the new operators may not have that.  You may also be subject to other things, such as prying into your private PM's and so forth.   I am hopeful that these things don't happen, but I will have no control over that.   It's obvious that you want the site to be more responsive and to enjoy what you have, but change invariably means just that.  Just know that with change things may not be what you hoped.

I have enjoyed being a part of making KSUFans grow but it's obvious that I can no longer do this.  At this point in my life, with other demands of my time, it would be unfair for me to try and keep ahold of this and not let better opportunities grow the site.  I want it to be the best site and if it means I step aside, I do.  I have no ill will towards those who have a different opinion.  I'm willing to help in anyway I can.

Whatever happens, you all need to support the site regardless so that it can maintain its essence.  There are some very good things that will come from this in terms of what TP will be able offer so don't judge it just yet.

I am certain it will be much better than I could have done.  Give it a chance.

Its essence, being its posters, can go emaw wherever they want.  Wherever they land, the essence will continue.

Yeah, seeing nearly 150 days on there is pretty revealing.

I'm not sure how that works. I had ksufans tab open everyday at work for 9 hours a day for like 10 months.... plus w/e at home. When does it "timeout" and what not?

Kind of glad I deleted my account twice.  Not sure I'd want to know how much time I spend bbsing.  It's pretty much all I do at work.

I'd like to propose a motion to delete the "powerespect approved" emoticon.  kinda old and tired.

What's worse, calling this "blogging" or "being on chat rooms".

And my wife is pretty awesome when it comes to support of my addiction hobby.

Second.

I'd even like to take it step further and encourage less use of the word Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) and variations. Seems us highly intelligent folks can be more creative than that. :imo:

The thing that bugged me most about the powerespect emoticon was when a powerespect would misuse it.  Hopefully, that won't happen on GOEMAWCOMS!!
