Think as nutrition as the foundation and the house as the exercise. You can't build the house without the foundation.

To answer your question directly though, I wouldn't sub soccer for plyo's. Plyo's are good. I would sub it for your usual cardio. I don't do much, if any "pure" cardio though. There are many better ways to burn fat.
