How hard is this staff still going after Simmons?  I know South Carolina is in on him now (obviously).

I think not at all.  About half the names we will show up with are just past offers/interest.  iirc he had a Pastrana connection.

That was my initial reaction too until I saw the following update from the S. Carolina site about 2 wks ago:

"South Carolina, Alabama, VCU, Memphis, Central Florida, USF, Kansas State, Illinois, Temple, and Stanford," Simmons said of his offer list. "Most of them all happened around the same time this spring. Well, Miami just offered a couple weeks ago. I like what I have right now. Those are the schools I'm looking at the most."

http://toledo.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1374173

Also keep in mind that Simmons plays AAU ball with Team Breakdown, that's the same AAU club as Malik Price-Martin, who Cassidy did an update on recently verifying the offer from the new KSU staff.

But you want muddled, I'll show you muddled, here's TB's coach, Kenny Gillion, recently stating a standing KSU offer for Demetrius Henry but not for Price-Martin or Simmons

“Demetrius Henry has offers from Virginia Tech, Miami, Memphis, Tennessee, Kansas State, Southern Cal, South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Tech, South Florida, Illinois and others”, stated Gillion.  “Malik Price Martin has offers from Louisville, Southern Cal, Memphis, Central Florida, Miami, South Florida, South Carolina, Ohio State, and more.  Antravious Simmons has offers from Alabama, VCU, Miami, Mississippi State, USF, Memphis, South Carolina, and Georgia.  Josh Heath holds offers from USF, DePaul, Northwestern, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, and Princeton.  Carlos Morris has Seton Hall, Miami, South Carolina and USF offering him.  Kalvin Cline holds offers Richmond, Duquesne, Florida Gulf Coast and Bucknell. Our underclassmen of 2014 Zach Johnson, Hunter Osceola, and 2015 Mike Green will look to catch the attention of more college coaches. They trio have offers and heavy interest from schools all around the country.”

Dustin Thomas now claiming KSU offer. If you'll recall, TX hoops recently placed him in the Top 10 for their Class of '13 rankings.

"The 6-foot-8 Thomas is a versatile player that has his sights set on high majors.

Thomas is currently getting interest and offers from Kansas State (offer), Texas, Nebraska, Lehigh, UT-Arlington (offer), Colorado State (offer), Arkansas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

THA:DUSTIN is a big strong skilled player that can take over a game inside and out. He can go to work inside the paint scoring over either shoulder, or step out and hit threes. He has a soft touch from the outside and down low, and he finishes in traffic. He is good rebounder and will alter shots. "

Parrish now reporting offers from KSU, OK St, Rice, Colorado St, Tulane, and Oregon St. Says his favorites right now are KSU, OK St, Colorado, Georgia, and Rice. Plans to take an official visit to KSU this fall(he plans to take all 5) before signing during the early period in November.

Bossi with report from LBJ skills camp. Notes on a couple propsects KSU reportedly had been in contact with, Donte Clark and Kenton Facey. Cassidy did an update on Clark last week, 4* 6'4" SG originally from Charlotte, NC but now attending Hargrave Military Academy in VA.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Donte-Clark-135365

Facey is a 6'8" PF originally from Jamaica but now attending school on Long Island, KSU most not be putting the hard sell on him right now though:

"Donte Clark is a scorer. If he sees the ball go through the net a few times, the four-star shooting guard really comes after defenders and stays in attack mode. A streaky shooter, he's an athletic driver who doesn't waste dribbles.

Slender big man Kenton Facey made a good impression on Sunday. At 6-foot-8, he can run the floor, is quick around the rim and has good length and athleticism. He's gotten offers from Connecticut, Providence, St. John's, Rhode Island, Duquesne and Drexel. Others showing recent interest include Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Florida, USC, Colorado and Maryland."

Sounds like KSU has contacted former Illinois commit, 6'3" PG Jalen James, along with a lot of other schools:

"Currently he(James) holds two offers from Colorado and SMU.  There are many other schools that will be watching him closely.

“As of now everything is wide open.  Schools I’ve heard from are Nevada, Colorado, Nebraska, DePaul, Kansas, Kansas St, Tennessee, Oregon St, Dayton, SMU, Memphis, Florida St, Providence , Oklahoma St, and Rutgers.”

On the recruiting front, Westicles claims scholarship offers from Kansas State, Colorado, Richmond, The Citadel, Drake and Lehigh.

He is also drawing heavy interest from Texas Tech, Georgia Tech and SMU.

Westicles says he wants to take official visits to KSU, Colorado, and Drake.

Report on another wing KSU is recruiting from the Hoop Group Elite Camp:

"Tevon Saddler - 2013 Shooting Guard from St. Frances Academy/B'More UA Finest (MD)
The brother of Delaware star Devon Saddler, Tevon finished at the rim consistently and created mismatches due to his college-ready physique. His ability to play both guard positions makes him a threat as he has strong court vision, can drive to the basket and isn't afraid to create while on the move. Saddler needs to improve on his jumper, as well as his on-ball defense, but his size and agility makes him a potential high-major steal. He currently holds offers from South Florida, Delaware, Cornell, Towson, UNC-Greensboro and Loyola Marymount, while the likes of West Virginia, Rhode Island, Virginia Tech, George Mason, Marquette, Hawaii and Kansas State are showing strong interest in him. Saddler originally planned a visit to West Virginia in mid-June, but was not able to attend. The Mountaineers, as well as Hawaii, Kansas State and Delaware are making a push to get him on campus. Although he has visited the CAA school plenty, it would be a surprise if Saddler joined his older brother as a Blue Hen next year due to the level of BCS schools knocking on his door."

Weber also in Indy yesterday, presumably scouting Harris, Parrish, and D. Bailey('14)

"The Florida Elite versus Urban DFW game featured uncommitted bigs Embid, Walker, Mickey, and Karviar Shepherd. The list of coaches was mind boggling.

Head coaches from Kansas, Florida, Ohio State, Tulsa, Arkansas, TCU, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Colorado, and West Virginia were there. Also assistants from Illinois, Texas, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Louisville, Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, SMU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Georgetown, VCU, Gonzaga, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, USC, and Florida State were present."

Stuff on Westicles on from the Reebok Breakout camp in Philly:

"While the Harrisons stood out, a few of their teammates showed promise as well. Both small forward Westicles and power forward Jonathan Motley have high ceilings. Westicles is a 6-foot-5 slasher who can get to the rim and shows potential as a deep jump shooter. Meanwhile, Motley is thin and quick, and looks like he can develop into a quality stretch four man.

Westicles reported offers from Kansas State, Colorado, Richmond, Lehigh and Drake and interest from Georgia Tech, Texas Tech and Nebraska."

Free report

* 2013 forward Westicles was all over the place during his opening round game. He finished 6-for-13 from the field and scored 13 points. Westicles had four steals and was active in his camp teams press.

KSU recently offered '13 4-star Josh Hart. Here's an article I put together on Hart a couple months back. Good luck at what he brings to the table.

Marcus Foster, 2013 SG, Dallas Mustangs: We were first intrigued by Foster at Rumble in the Bronx this past June when he showed that he is a fantastic shooter. Friday Foster did more of the same, scoring 18 points in the first half rout of OBC. Big 12 schools such as Kansas State and Oklahoma are coming after the shooter and for good reason.

Scoopmaster Kline, at it again:

"After deciding to part ways with Dayton, 2013 point guard Jevon Thomas has a plan for this fall. For now, he will attend St. John's Northwest Military Academy in Wisconsin for a postgrad year. Thomas - who doesn't turn 18 years old until February - decided against going to Dayton simply because he felt he was not ready on and off the court for college basketball. As his college options are starting to pick up, schools such as UNLV, Seton Hall, Oklahoma State, Penn State and Kansas State are pursuing him. Look for Thomas to try and take a few visits once July is over.

As a surprise to most, the No. 51 player in the Rivals100 for the class of 2014 made an appearance from Texas. With major athleticism and the ability to create havoc on the fastbreak, Melvin Swift has a large list of suitors. Kentucky, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Marquette, LSU, Florida, DePaul, Wichita State, Arizona and Seton Hall are pursuing the forward from Yates High in Texas. Swift will run with Houston Hoops this July."

Thomas, an NYC native, was actually a St. John's commit before he had been committed to Dayton, but as detailed in his recent updates, he's wide open right now. He was also at one point a Top 100 recruit in the Class of '12 before reclassing to '13.

http://recruitscoop.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1144866

More recent stuff on Thomas:

"Jevon Thomas (Team Melo 2013) – Thomas is lightning quick from the point guard position and can carry a team for stretches when he gets hot from outside. That was the case on Tuesday as he buried four consecutive three-pointers in the 2nd half of a game with each one looking more ridiculous than the last. Shot selection and overall decision making from the point are areas where Thomas can improve but his athleticism and scoring ability are second to none for the position."

"Thomas has moved on from his commitment to Dayton as they were looking for a guard in the 2012 class and both parties will be going in different directions for 2013. He is mulling interest from UNLV, Kansas State, Penn State, Oklahoma State and Seton Hall. Thomas is looking for an up and down system that allows him to show off his open court skills and says location doesn’t matter because he’s already been away from home for 2 years at high school so he’s adjusted to it."

Reggie Rankin?

6'6" Hasson Martin of New Heights played well hit the glass and finished around the rim and on the break.

You can watch Martin and his New Heights club in the replay of the Adidas Invitational Finals tomorrow at 6 on CBS Sports network. New Heights lost to Florida Elite(formerly the Florida Rams), I think Martin finished with 11 pts and 4 boards, highlight for him was probably swatting consensus 5* Kasey Hill at the rim on a dunk attempt.

Henry’s skill stands out
One Miami native watched another operate in the post and had to be impressed. With South Carolina head coach Frank Martin looking on, postgraduate power forward Demetrius Henry (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Faith Baptist) went to work.

Since the start of camp, one could make the case Henry has as much aptitude in the post as any big in attendance (Nichols and Jermaine Lawrence notwithstanding). Henry is comfortable backing down and going to work. He’s strong and diverse on the offensive end. You have to respect his ability to work to the rim from midpost in. We ask young posts to have one move, that’s it; Henry’s got a mixture of a few. That is good enough to be a high-major postman in any class.

The next step for Henry is bringing it every night and rebounding to his capabilities. He was outstanding one game, then played to mixed results in a pair. He’s improved since a year ago and still has work to do. The good news is he’s taking his fifth year seriously.

“I wasn’t ready for college,” Henry said. “I needed to work on my body more.”

Kansas State, Miami, Murray State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are ringing him up and there’s more on the lengthy list.

Nice to see we are still in the Henry running
