I really wasn't on board with this but he's hard not to like.   But this will be the exact reason we hire Jank.  God I hate ourschool.

Currie would be a fool not to hire Gottlieb. All this resume concern is total bullcrap.

What's it look like on his resume if Currie hires Boyle who is solid but not great? It looks like he caused the most marketable, winningest coach in decades to leave for some guy who might win some but not enough to generate much attention or as much money. This looks very bad to other schools.

So unless Currie has the homerun hire up his sleeve (Pastner, Mack, etc), going for broke on a guy like Gottlieb is actually the smartest thing he could do for his career.

52
I mean, could Gottlieb have done any better thus far?

He's gone from out of nowhere to be the fan favorite candidate and positioned himself to at least get a conversation with Currie. He's got all the right answers.

One would imagine if he's able to get this far doing the near impossible (making K-State administrators take him seriously) then he'd be pretty badass at doing what is considerably easier (coaching basketball).

Someone needs to Cusack this campaign and stand outside Currie's window holding a boombox with this interview playing.

Officially changed my major to Theatre. Can anybody see me in a movie?

How about Trent Johnson at LSU?  He is like a rich man's Frank Haith in that he has actually had some success.  He had a sweet 16 at Stanford and was the dude who got the thing going at Nevada with a sweet 16 there.  LSU gave him a 1 year no raise extension recently so you know he would love to reset the clock.

He seems like pretty laid back players coach so he could hold next years team together but if he sucked after that he would be a lot easier to fire than a central Kansas son of the program.

Trent Johnson should be at the bottom of the Judges' Matrix. He is both a bad recruiter and in-game coach. The only reason he had some success at Stanford was because he was gift wrapped the Lopez twins who from the day they were born had the dream of playing basketball there. And even with two future NBA 7 footers on the same team at the same time the furthest the team got was Sweet Sixteen. Stanford fans were thrilled when he left for LSU. I'm sure LSU fans would feel the same way.

How on earth does Stan Heath make the list?

 :sdeek:

Some great Frankisms though right there.

How the eff did we do that well with Colon and Merriweather playing significant minutes?

Huh? Every time I watch this game and think of this team I wonder how we didn't win the whole thing.

Clemente, Pullen, Kelly, JamSam, Dom. I mean, my goodness.

60
When I saw this thread had become 14 pages tonight I was sure Frank was leaving for Illinois.

Instead, it was just a whole lot of fun being had.

She REALLY enjoyed JO's DOB though. Was sort of begrudgingly adorable.

Maybe Will was still battling the emotional hurt caused by Trim?

I know I shouldn't because he's just a freshman undersized big who has given us some good games, but I've really been getting quite angry at Gip over the last few games. He has an amazing ability to not be in the right place and not grab rebounds.

Looks like there may be some good straw stirring today

"If you watched Rodney McGruder and Shane Southwell go at it in practice today," Martin said, "you would've thought they were trying to compete the first day of practice for playing time. They were fun today. They understand."

The man best known for his dancing in the tunnel before opening tip is a simple man when it comes to dining. Martavious Irving’s mother is his favorite cook. So he always wants to eat home. But when he goes out, he prefers Red Lobster. It’s his favorite restaurant.

First Trim's high 5 snub, and now rewatching this.....

I dunno, I may be #teamsprads. That's assuming it's not mutually exclusive with #teamangel. Because I'd be #teamangel even if it was mutually exclusive with #teampullen. Just sayin'.

I'm with you, Stevesie. I mean, I've watched that Tunnel Dance like twenty times now and every time it makes me smile with unadulterated joy. Even Rod breaks a smile.  :)

Never met Fatty but he was an inspiration.

His posts were so fun and optimistic that I felt I knew him and wish I truly had.

Seth Davis is a clown and all, but I enjoyed this article.

Wisconsin: I don't really respect the way they play. Jordan Taylor likes to run and grab you, and then throw his head back and try to get a call. If you set a pick, they take a dive. They cheat the game. Everybody raves about this defensive juggernaut, but that's bull. They dribble the clock out and mug you out of the building. Part of the reason they lost to Cornell and Davidson is because when you get into the tournament, refs outside the Big Ten don't fall for that. Taylor is kind of struggling, but they're always going to be in the game because they're not going to shoot until there are six seconds left on the shot clock. Then they give it to Taylor. That's their offense. They don't even run the swing as much as they used to. Taylor plays no defense because he's trying to save his energy. Jared Berggren, Josh Gasser and Mike Bruesewitz have all had fabulous seasons, and Ryan Evans has really taken his game to the next level. They're going to be in every game because of the way they play and the fact that they have a lot of weapons.

Pretty meh KSU Cats summary:

Quote
Kansas State: This is a weird team. Frank Martin does a great job and the Wildcats are a great defensive team, but they just struggle to score. They hound you like dogs and do a great job of denying the wings. You have to make jump shots against them, even though they'll be contested. Rodney McGruder is not great off the bounce, but he can score in a variety of ways. He can do everything, but he doesn't do anything great. They get offense from their rebounding, so if you can minimize their second-chance points they struggle, although it's hard because they're so physical. Will Spradling and Jamar Samuels have had some big games, but they need somebody besides McGruder who's going to consistently give them 10, 12 points a night, and they don't have that.

What in the world is going on here? The Scheme Doctor's doing it again!

Misdirection: "No, 10-2 doesn't change our recruiting approach at all."

Scheme: "Future Head Coach and son Sean, go offer like 15 4-stars right now."

Has there ever been a more universally supported K-State Cat before he ever set foot on the field?

Counting down the days until Spring Game and seeing #teamSams for first time in action.

“It’s winding down, one more (regular-season) game. Me and Vic (Ojeleye, another senior) were talking about this,’’ Samuels said. “We’ve got to go out with a bang, obviously. Try to get this team to the tournament, and not be on the bubble.’’

Bubble? K-State’s dance card seems to be punched with a fifth straight 20-win season, all of which Samuels contributed to as a member of the program. Still, he takes nothing for granted.

“Hey, Joe Lunardi, he tells the truth, but sometimes he can be wrong,’’ Samuels said.

Wow, Jamar, saving the best of roast. That Joe Lunardi line makes me  then immediately  :bawl:

Frank Martin @FrankMartinKSU

@landontodd hey I was just curious if u r always sick after we win? Never here from u after wins. I love ur k-state pride!!!!!

 :surprised:

Frank, this seems like a terrible (albeit entertaining) idea.

Can't wait for the "Gip didn't develop into what he could have" talking point in three years when he's had two straight mid/low teens points and high single digit rebounds seasons.

This made me laugh. Then on second viewing I looked closer to see what happened to the girl.  :dubious:
