Since most emaws are , I'm going to assume that most of you enjoy Maker's Mark from time to time...

Dang, that is my favorite, had some last night.  Although I don't know that changing from 45% to 42% will change it that much.  That is like the difference between the ice at the beginning of the drink slowly becoming liquid water at the end of the drink.

For me it's mainly the principal.  Plus, starting at 45% to get to 42% due to ice melting is one thing... but the distillery knocking 6.7% off the alcohol content of great product to meet "global demand" is bullshit at it's highest order.

I will probably go snag 2-3 bottles to keep around and then move on to Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve, or perhaps another quality bourbon simply out of principle.   Whatever happened to good old fashioned supply side economics??   Wouldn't it seem smarter to just raise the price a bit to lower demand until they could up production? 

 

FYI, Noticed Maker's Mark is on sale for 20 bucks at Walgreen's this week. Stock up.

as much as it pains me to say it, since he was a huge frank lover and hated tom crean and big ten basketball, cole manbeck has a chance to become a k-state legend if gottlieb becomes k-state's coach. he wrote the article that started the movement. without cole's article, the search might still be focused on jankovich or henson or boyle.

of course, i was the original outside-the-box thinker who said to hire an espn analyst. but i went with the wrong one and schulz gave bilas an immediate "no way" on twitter. 

THIS. Manbeck probably (definitely) got the idea from goEMAW, but deserves a lot of credit for putting it out to the world.

The theory in my head goes like this:

Early in the season, Frank's demeanor on the bench seemed more calm than in past years. Maybe this was in part due to some ultimatum some of the players had given him. But as the season went on he couldn't help himself.

He knew that at least a third of the roster was going to transfer (not just the scrubs), that would kill his career. No talented kids would come to play for someone who was already seen as a hardass and that had just ran half the squad. He knew his time was up in Manhattan and needed to get out before roster imploded. This is why he took a step down to SC. The Jamar thing just gave him the excuse to put the blame on him leaving on Currie.

1. Will getting outside shooting touch back. Need to have someone that can knock that shot down. Leave the penetrating to Rod and A-Rod.

2. One of the bigs, either Gipson or Diaz developing a consistant face up game. Need to knock down 6-8 ft shots.

3. Shane just becoming "something." Just needs to be servicable at defending or rebounding.

This team will be deep and experienced up front. Guards should grow in the off season. Could be the surprise team, KU will be good, but depending on Texas and Baylor defections and Royce we could be 2/3 in preseason.

Kruger Tells TV Station He's Staying In Vegas

Despite reports that UNLV's Lon Kruger is to become the next head coach at the University of Oklahoma, a television station in Las Vegas says they just spoke with the coach and he says he's staying put.

The reports came hot and heavy this afternoon that Kruger -- who just led the Runnin' Rebels to their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in his seven seasons -- would become the next head coach at OU and some even saying the deal was worth two million dollars a year for seven years.

But, Chris Maathuis at KLAS-TV in Las Vegas reports he spoke with Kruger and that he said he is staying at UNLV.

There has been no word out of Norman on the reports and so far, the only person who has interviewed for the job is Terry Evans, a former OU player and current head coach at the University of Central Oklahoma.

The report could be just the latest one to have OU nabbing a head coach only to have it be debunked. Earlier this week, reports had Illinois head coach Brucer Weber being the guy, only to have him announce he was staying with the Illini.

Others whose names have been linked to the OU job include Memphis Josh Pastner, Marquette's Buzz Williams and even Virginia Commonwealth's Shaka Smart, whose Rams play in the Final Four tomorrow night.

Kruger began his head coaching career in 1982 at Texas-Pan American, taking the Broncs to a 20-8 record in his final season before taking the head coaching job at his alma mater, Kansas State.

There, he guided the Wildcats to an Elite 8 appearance in his second season.

Kruger would go on to coach at Florida, reaching the Final Four in 1994 and later on to Illinois, where his Fighting Illini teams made the NCAA Tournament in three of four seasons.

He also coached the NBA's Atlanta Hawks from 2000 to 2003 and was an assistant with the Knicks in 2003-04 before jumping back into the collegiate ranks at UNLV in 2004-05.

In seven seasons, UNLV won nearly 70-percent of the games he coached and the Runnin' Rebels made the tournament four times, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2007.

This season, UNLV suffered a first round loss to Illinois here at Tulsa's BOK Center.

JFC.  After reading the first three posts in this thread I went to the website and emailed them to stop embarrassing my university.  Then I see that IchabodCat did the same.  We might be friends after all, Ichabod Cat.  Friends without purple camo.

To be fair, he had a purple pimp cape and hat (with quill) on top of the purple camo. His unattractive wife had a faux white fur coat with purple fuzzy hat.
