Two dudes meet on a train. They talk about people they don't want in their lives and the idea of criss-crossing murders to get away with the crime loosely comes up. The main character thinks it is all talk, but the other dude thinks the deal is done. Stuff happens and it is a good flick. From the sounds of it, you may not be into older movies (which was made in 1950).
In Bruges may be more in line with what you like (which is all good). If you do happen to like In Bruges, watch Seven Psychopaths as well.

Strangers on a Train didn't really age well, imo. Rear Window is great however.
