The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Is Twitter broken?

I get the following message and I haven't tweeted yet today.

You are over the daily limit for sending Tweets.

Kansas State Football / Fundraising for the greatest Wildcat of all time.
« on: December 17, 2022, 12:00:25 AM »
So, Winters is obviously the best gE’er in the world and he has agreed to wear the shirt below every day for a year if I buy 15 of them for him.

https://twitter.com/wintersofearth/status/1603772303648493568?s=46&t=HfuCJFwzz2chYgBQ1Kkt-w

I’m guessing those shirts are about $20 each. So 15 times 20… carry the 4… equals about $700, give or take. What are some things I can do to raise that kind of discretionary money? Because I need this in my life.

Kansas State Football / Hand sign
« on: December 05, 2022, 08:04:41 PM »
So, when did KState start doing the hand sign? A squawk friend tried to tell me that it’s only been a few years and it was ripped off from Baylor. I’ll admit it wasn’t a thing when I was there in early 90s but I know it’s been a while.  A google search says about 2005. Does that sound about right?

I have:
Netflix
Disney Plus
HBO Max
Showtime Anytime
Amazon Prime
Hulu
Paramount+
Peacock TV
ESPN +

As a family, we probably use Netflix the most. I personally use PeacockTV the most because of soccer and I rarely use Amazon Prime and if it had a monthly subscription I would not have it.  HBO Max and Peacock’s apps are both terrible. Paramount plus was originally just for soccer but we enjoyed 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown. When it comes to original series, I prefer Showtime but my wife prefers Hulu. My kid loves Disney plus or I would have cancelled it already and ESPN+ for Cat games and UFC.

What do you have and which are your favorite?

I have Directv Stream for cable channels. It’s ok.

Essentially Flyertalk / In N Out of State Tuition
« on: December 01, 2021, 11:32:37 AM »
So, my high school-aged daughter has begun to look at colleges.  We're planning to go to Manhattan in the spring to tour the campus.

While I live in Texas, I do own 80 acres of land in Kansas.  Would that qualify her for in-state tuition or would she need to actually live in KS?

Essentially Flyertalk / KState Twitter follows
« on: March 08, 2021, 07:46:06 AM »
I try to follow everyone on gE whose Twitter handle I know but who are some other good/great K-State people to follow?  I used to use IPA's KState list but he changed accounts and now he doesn't have that list.

So, who should I follow? Or do one of you have a KState twitter list that I can follow? I prefer funny and not tucks but I'm open to all.  I think I follow most of the KState writers.

If I don't follow you, drop your handle in here and I will.

So, I’ve turned off topic notifications and I’m still getting them. Like, a LOT of them. Anyway to fix this?

I'm not a fan.  Is anyone?

He is always saying stupid crap. McConnell and Pelosi are much better leaders than Shumer and McCarthy.

Might as well have a thread dedicate to the impeachment.

Essentially Flyertalk / DNA testing
« on: July 14, 2019, 05:40:29 PM »
Any of you guys done a DNA test?  I recently did one thru Ancestry.com.

I just had a really awkward call with my cousin about an older sibling he was unaware existed.

I really debated about whether or not to tell him. And I threw out a hypothetical about maybe not wanting to know if I had a sibling out there and when he said that he would want to know, I told him. It’s a pretty weird feeling to tell a man in his 40s that he has a sister his dad never told him about.

There are 22 GOP seats up and 12 Dems, I think.

Essentially Flyertalk / VPNs for international TV watching
« on: September 07, 2017, 12:22:39 PM »
Hey guys.... last year when in Europe, my DirecTV stream was blocked because of my location.  Is there a way to download a VPN app or something for my iPad or laptop that will enable me to fool DirecTV in to thinking I am in the US?

Thank you in advance and I'll hang up and listen.

For the life of me I can't understand what's so great about being off the grid but this is ridiculous.

Essentially Flyertalk / Where in the Southeast would you live....
« on: February 19, 2017, 03:00:16 PM »
I've been offered a very good job. However, I will have to relocate to my assigned region which is the Southeast.  I can live anywhere within the region but obviously proximity to a decent airport would be a must. We have good friends in the Raleigh Durham area and in the Melbourne, FL area so we're going to look into those areas. Anyone have any suggestions?

Essentially Flyertalk / Hey guys who buy crap for work!
« on: June 07, 2016, 10:00:32 AM »
I spend most of my day reaching out to people trying to sell them crap.  I have leads where people have been to our website, visited our booth at a trade show or just generally shown some interest in our product to the extent that they’ve given my company their contact info.   Reaching out to those people is pretty simple. They tend to reply to emails, pick up their phone when you call and/or accept a meeting with me.

Obviously it would be best if all business could be done that way but getting the word out about our product via marketing can be expensive and not always effective.  As a result, we do a pretty fair amount of cold calling and emailing to make connections.  More and more people I speak to have become increasing irritated by unsolicited calls/emails.

My questions to those of you who routinely or even occasionally purchase products and services for your company are:
Do you ever pick up your phone when you see it’s from a vendor or a number you don’t recognize?
Has anyone ever left you a sales pitch on a voicemail that motivated you to call them back?
Have you ever purchased anything for the company that began by someone cold calling/cold emailing you?
Do you open emails from people that are obviously trying to sell you something?
If so, do you ever respond?
Do you accept LinkedIn connection requests from people you don’t know?
